'Sugino extractor/tightening tool to do the job'

On the crank arms where the side bolts are, You will see that there is a thread. One part of a crank arm extractor screws onto this thread. The other part of the extractor requires you to turn clockwise using a wrench. As you turn clockwise you will find that the crank arm eases from the spindle. Quite simple and a hell of alot better than the old hammer thats for sure.

so thats just a normal crank extractor, like you use on maxy cross etc....available from every bike shop for around 6-10 quid.

same as mountain bike too.

Yep. They are cheap but very effective. I think most alloy 3 piece cranks have the same thread so you can use just about any crank arm extractor on just about any alloy crank arm.

I'll see if I can get one of them things then - was hoping I'd just be able to put it on with 'standard' tools, like a flight crank  ???

you CAN put it on with standard tools....

you need a crank puller to get it off.
