Title: De-anno araya aero rims
Post by: dirtskirt on September 26, 2011, 08:52 PM
Hi all, just needing some advice please,

Im planning on stripping off the gold anno from my araya aero rims to try and achieve the same finish as a silver set,

So will i be left with a dull silver finish that i could buff up to a mild shine?

I dont want to go the whole hog and give them the polished look as this would mean alot of rubbing down to remove the hard annoed surface layer, is that correct? (i done that on a set of 7x and some things you only do once :P

Anyone had any experience in getting the silver finish look?

Cheers, Dirtskirt

Could you just not trade for a silver pair and save another set from Mr Oven Pride  :(  :(

Try speaking to skywaym4n bro  :daumenhoch: He normally has a lot of gear from burners as he is building a fleet of team burners  :coolsmiley:

He might have a more worn set on the gold that can't be saved so worth stripping  :daumenhoch:

The scratches give them character bro  :smitten: but I know a man who can shiney side them for you  :daumenhoch:

He has just done my black Ukai's that I should get back tomorrow and will post them for people who want the shiney siding done  :coolsmiley:

They have a few little nicks on but are in the 1982 original condition that will be going on my show Haro Master build  :daumenhoch:

The original finish is silver anno, send them to CCA and they will strip and re-anno them silver.

Yeah, im ok with the oven pride bit,

Wont they need a light go on the buffing wheel?

I could do with a pic of someones finished results really.

A buffing wheel will make it easier but it's not a must.
If your not having them re anode don't worry if you get a bit more of a shine than your looking for. They will be bare alloy you see and it doesn't take long for that bling to get a little duller.

Nobody said Araya Aero's don't have a braking surface.

But you need a boarder/edge to define a side ::)

Use oven pride, then give them a good bollocking with a scratch pad (or the rough side of one of them washing up sponges will do)

Use autosol to get some shine, and then if you want super shine go for brasso!
