Bridgestone Tyres had a small bicycle manufacturing division and this was their bmx, all cro-mo with tange forks, not sure if they were sold over here or just in the states and japan although i do remember the advert in the american mags.

There were a few bikes bitd with exactly the same gusset they were all made by one manufacturer and then sold on to the respective companies (i.e. Yamaha, Bridgestone and some others).
Unfortunately I cannot at present remember the original manufacturer but I will endeavour to remember.

according to the limited amount of info i've managed to dig up so far Bridgestone had its own factory where they made road bikes and in the end MTBs.
the gussett is indeed like a yamaha but the rear end is totaly different (looptail for a start)
the sticker on it says made in japan and there looks like there is more detail on it but i can't make it out in the photos so will have to wait until it arrives to take a closer look.
what do we reckon on colour/parts then ?

Not saying you are wrong at all Andy, but I wouldn't believe the sticker saying made in Japan as my Yamaha sticker says 'Made in France' but I can guarantee it wasn't. ;D

didn't say you were sean :LolLolLolLol: just saying what i've been able to find out so far :daumenhoch:
bridgestone deffo has a cycle factory in japan which was established around 1949, it deffo makes road bikes and MTBs and it also made small motorcycles in the early years.
they also had a factory in Taiwan but this closed in the early 70s.
as for the bmx frames, there is not a lot of info about on them :(
as a lot of Japenese companys worked together, perhaps that why the gussets on this and the yamaha are the same?
Interestingly, 1982 was the year the 'Raleigh USA' rights were bought by Huffy Corp, who were licensed to design and sell Raleigh in the USA with some production going to Bridgestone in Japan.

Similar but very different, the Yamaha has a defined sweep to the gusset ;)
