Title: rollin' with the Generals
Post by: ED209 on October 09, 2011, 09:51 PM
Big Len the Nottz Kingpin has lent me his S&M Holmes ƒ&ƒ after I nearly brought the S&M with dodgy brake mounts on ebay.

Building it up now to test @ T1 Tuesday and ride @ Corby for Gary's Birthday.

Lets see what all the fuss is about then...  :)

S&Ms are like fair trade coffee or organic Bananas. Its as much to do with the amazing product, as it is to do with the knowledge thats its come from an ethical background.  ;)

Slammed up where Dan?  :D

If you don't tighten your rear axle bolts enough you'll end up looking like a human unicycle ;)

...can't believe I sold those FIT FAFs now... would have been perfect  ::)

swapped Len's pedals for some Fusions, running my San Marco seat, Hoffman bars and Peggy Mitchell pegs to protect the frame... was hoping to get a ride in tonight but work said no. Gonna try and get to T1 tomorrow  :)

S&M..????
ETHICAL...?????  ;D
Take the rosy specs off alex!! Moeller is a legend, broke convention several times but a straight up businessman.

HOLMES, Best frameset ever?? I think so. Was it accident or design...???

I meant Ethical in a BMX sense. A true Rider owned company. I'd say the same about Standard, FBM, and more recently United and Bicycle Union. Its not just a matter of buying products that work great (esp as most new BMX parts are pretty much the same now) but making sure your £ go to people who have earned it (in a BMX sense).

You're right, sorry if i offended you Alex, I'm a big S&M fan as you probably know. I love the tongue -in -cheekness....
You can't make money out of bmx alone by being ethical tho!!!
Quickly back to topic before i gain a few loathers...
Hope you enjoy riding a Holmes as much as I do mate.  :)

Ben, when are you gonna get your arse down to the Boardroom with us mate?

Do you want me to drop you a line next time and see if we can fit you in the motor? I know you're a lot better rider than us old-timers, but the Boardroom is a hoot mate and the trip from Sheffield is only 60 miles, so just over an hour (I have to do the speed limit due to the most ridiculous amount of points on my licence you've ever seen  )

Cheers bud :daumenhoch:

Mate, i'd love to. I always check the dates for leicester but every gathering so far has taken place during my evening or nightshifts, a crappy co-incidence. Thats why I haven't been to MK for the last 2 years. Transport isn't a problem but thanks for your kind offer. A hook-up or convoy would save me getting lost.  I have a clean license too if you wanna ride with me!

No probs Ben :coolsmiley:

Got a licence full of 13 of the fookas right now, and the Olympics will be long finished before any of them come off so I'm Mr bloody speed limit...... :'(

Keep your eye out for the dates - what about the Terminal One session on the 12th November bud ???

I can see whay you fellas love your S&Ms... they are a beautiful bike... the build quality is amazing and the ride is straight & true.

But... I need to ride the bike I'm happiest with and while I know I could have got used to the S&M in time... I don't have the passion for it that all you guys who rode them in the 90s do. I've progressed loads on my Sport and I enjoy riding it and thats what counts.... so I'm sticking with that.

You where right about the organic coffee beans Alex... its just that I'm a tea man. Well... Red Bull really  :)

Yeah - you got to ride what you feel comfortable riding - be it S&M, Standard, DK etc. Although gotta say I enjoy 'learning' a new bike (if you see what I mean) - so long as it's mid school ;)

Maybe sometime Ed borrow a bike (I might give you a lendsy if I finally come to one of the meets) that's got a similar geometry to the green machine :)

Dan... its a question of how long we have left riding... I love my Sport..how it looks and how it rides. What I realised very quickly with the S&M is that I'm not a rider with natural ability for any bike... it takes me ages to get a bike right and its only when you get that confidence that you can progress. I haven't got the time to start again I just wanna ride and enjoy riding while I can. I could never skate anyone elses board either... takes ages to get your trucks how you want. I thought I gave it the best chance running my bars and grips on Len's bike but it wasn't to be.

91 fo'life  ;D

anyway... I'm more interested in Gra showin me his c o c k than riding.  :smitten:

:daumenhoch: So true - prolly only got a couple more years left in me knees....

Had Gra broke the 'No waxing' rule in that pic - is that what was causing the looks ;)

its wasn't the waxing that was the problem Dan.. it was what he was using to apply it
