Title: Name the frame.

ok can anyone list a frame that has holes in the seat tube of the frame?

I know modern day frames like :
khe
eastern
macneil (seat tube collar)
GT Show (seat tube collar)

have holes of some sort in the seat tube, but there must have been more during the old days

what kind of holes are you talking?

like a hole for the cable to pass through?

basically looking for air holes or weight reduction holes in the seat tube (of any type of bike).
It seems that a certain company wants to patent the hole in the seat tube idea .... which i personally think could be a bad thing
as it could open up the door to allot of silly patents afterwards.

so i am trying to find all the bikes made with holes in the seattube.

didnt thruster also put holes arround the clamp area of the set post tube?

my 88 master has a hole in the bottom for the cable to run thru

That'd be a certain new flatland prototype frame, then.
As far as holed tubes, I do remember a pic of a totally drilled-out bike in BMX Action Bike waaaay back in the mid-ish 80s. Everything on the bike was punctured to save weight, even the brake levers.
Might be tough to find, perhaps Bill can leaf through his collection. I reckon it was within a year either way of his 'Stupple Stumbles' pic.
Holes are holes to me. Could be there's a big difference legally between CNC'd and drilled ones, though.
Phil Dolan used to drill through his BB shell, maybe at some time he's worked on a prototype frame with some holes incorporated into the design. Maybe Carlo can help, I think Phil's last pro frame was the Dolomite.

to tell you the truth,
I dont really like holes in the seattube as generally they are placed after the tubes have been welded and then the holes are cut afterwards to help keep the frame aligned.
BUT the only direction that the holes can be milled are from the side which causes a high amount of stress which can cause the frame to twist of flex.

it would actually be allot better to mill the backside of the post instead as it would create a much stiffer connection to the bb (compared to the above)
Unfortuantly it is not presently possible since the rear triangle gets in the way.

Anyway back to the topic, I found a frame called the pro-star which featured holes in the seatube that was made a loooong time ago and was available for public retail.
I mostly need to find frames with holes in the seattube that show it has been done before aswell as being retailed.
