Title: QUADANGLE NEARLY FINISHED
Post by: baldbmxer on May 31, 2006, 05:17 PM
Crank bolts need chroming, the levers need changing for tech 3's and if I'm really luck I'll come across the camo stem and hbar pads!!!!!

The rims are Ambrosio, they were chap as chips BITD, I used to get them from Ron Kitchins up here in Harrogate, gave them some hell and they never tweaked. They're great!

Rich

I got the rims from Bournemouth - Dirty Vans sale in the club house a couple of years ago. They are grey but have a blue hue to them. Originally they were destined for the Vector but they werent quite right - to blue, but they look mint on the Quad.

As for the colour I have a good friend who restores scooter and does custom airbrushing and paint. I trawled through many swatches looking for the right blue. Alot of them are 'too blue', I wanted one that wasnt to blue and 'quite white' because that show I remember them from BITD. The actual finished colour had to be mixed as the swatch i found it in had been discontinued. but was well worth the effort and time it took to find.

Cheers for the compliments.

JJ

I'm aiming for your 'before' picture with my restoration  :) That's the colour of frame (and decals) mine will be.
The 'after' pic is amazing - the dark blue forks really do go with the light blue frame. Are they new forks, or did you find a good match for SE metallic blue?

Thanks for all the comments,

Quads eh! you love them or hate them. I didnt like them BITD but in recent years I really fancied one and had a definate idea of how i wanted it straight from the start. I was looky top get areally good deal on the F&F about 18 months ago and its been a working progress for some time.

The original paint was just plain white with black stickers. as for the blue for the forks it was a case of hunting through many swatches looking for a colour that I thought was about right. They are slightly metallic, but not to much. I spent alot of time looking through old magazines looking at original colours. I belive the original colour was like this. The colour works well against the baby blue. The forks are not new.

Cheers JJ
