i am currently watching a set of mint nos white haro tyres on the bay,i missed a set yesterday as was beaten to it by a second,oh the joys of the bay.the second set however are being sold by asa.golfs.when i looked yesterday they were at 115 quid,i look today as they end in a few hours at around 10 and find the price has jumped to over 220 quid.when i look at the bid history,they have had 10 odd bids by the same person in succession taking them up to this silly figure.is this schill bidding?im no expert,is this against ebay rules?can someone help?

I don't think that's shill bidding is it? It just means someone has put a very high top bid in, and every time a new bid is made, the silly bid overtakes it automatically by the required lowest amount.
I might be wrong?

if you click on the bidders name it will tell you how much bidding activity they have had with the seller

but all the bids are by same person,surely he is shooting himself in footif he is real bidder?

i have been watching these for a while on the bay,a set a month ago went for 235,a set in australia a couple of wks ago went for 360!missed a set last night at £160 by a second!all are nos and mint.its silly though,you can get new green,pink and radberry from the likes of retrospect for 50 odd quid,just cant get the white ones anymore.ive got a set of used on mine but want a mint setfor when it goes on the wall!i certainly dont wanna pay this sort of money but its a simple case of supply and demand!im sure theres something fishy going on with this set though its getting frustrating!

spot on mark he's just put a big bid in , some stuffs been fetching crazy money in last few weeks some white tuffs went for 300 and odd

most people shill bid on ebay as i had a few things i`ve been out bid on to then get a email after the auction has ended to say do i want it and there member`s on here ::)
i now just avoid said person`s

no, far from spot on.
From what I can see in this instance, a bidder has put in a large amount and is therefore high bidder.
The shilling bidder (presumably the seller under another ebay name) then puts in small amounts, and can see each time that he does the amount the auction is at going up.
He keeps upping the bidding a bit at a time driving the price of the auction up whilst remaining under the high bid whicht he first bidder had already put in. Effectively driving up what that bidder would have paid if the auction had have ended.
It happens all the time now we cant see who is bidding
