Can any of you guys help to ID this frame for my mate who has just acquired this bike for restoration, his original thoughts was that he was getting another haro, but looking at the pics I don't think so, he can't find any serial numbers on it, he's scrapped the paint from the BB and from behind the drop outs, anyone got any ideas? :daumenhoch:
Also it looks like its got some kind of retro fitted bash guard.

Fook me some of you guys just throw around manufacturer names willy nilly. It is the most unlike a Holeshot I have ever seen.

I think so far then we can conclude that its not a Holeshot, that's one manufacture crossed of the list :LolLolLolLol:

Probably not a Holeshot RF-1 then.
-
who in the right mind would think neil ruffell would design a frame with those ridiculous foot stands I think not please have some respect. pickles pic is a RF1.
-
Looks like a Peugeot frame. Very similar to the Haros.
Circa 1985.
-
If it were an RF1 it would have brazed joints not tig welded like those anyway as that is the joining method vincent used.

Were these peugeot frames "cheap" and non desirable copies BITD, I have just spoken to my mate on the phone as he is after updates :LolLolLolLol: and he said that the bike is quite light so it could be cro mo, or 531 tubes ?
-
They're okay mate, in chrome I've seen them go over £100 on the bay :daumenhoch:

When released in 1984, they were cheap - sub £100.
They are made from Reynolds 531, in fact the frame was called the "Peugeot 531"
They weren't particularly desirable though (back then). They were just another last-year's-Haro-frame clone, at a time when frame builders had started welding on platforms and pegs.
And although now we know those welded on pegs were shit - at the time, it was what we wanted.

Thanks for the info :daumenhoch: were they sold as frame sets or complete bikes ?

Frame and forks only. £99.99 iirc.
