Title: headset size, 84 Redline Prostyler
Post by: splodge on October 28, 2011, 05:09 PM
Hi guys, i've got my hands on a lovely 84 Prostyler F&F so looking to build it up, now I was sure its a 1 inch headset but I tried one earlier at a local BMX specialist shop & it rattled inside the head tube. I tried a 1.1/8 & it seemed to fit (very tight) but should be ok with a bit of sanding down of the powder coat inside to fit properly

Not really sure what im asking here but i was surprised its not 1 inch, anyone shed any light? Also what size seat post would I need, 22.2?

Thanks chaps

Should be the standard size to be honest  ???

You need a standard 1'' threaded BMX headset.

I'm guessing that the headset you tried was not a true 1'' threaded, maybe one of the thinner road type headsets that say a VDC would require.

Normally Prostyler headtubes are tighter than Radmans wallet when it comes to fitting a headset.

Thanks for your replies chaps, theres different types of 1'' threadded headset? I had a prob when I resored my ET, couldnt find a headset the right size in any bike shop in Bristol. When I showed them the cups i'd taken out & they measured them some shops even said they have never seen a set that size  :D

The shop was a BMX specialist in Bristol so they should know their stuff.

the problem with some specialist bmx shops is they their not old enough to remember 1" headsets on a bmx.  ::)
