I've currently got this Pro Class that i've done nothing with, and hanker for a leary turbo.
Trouble is the pro class in an ex factory riders bike, so its just that little bit more special?
Opinions please, as not sure if i should sell this and wait for a mk1 leary to come up, or just been done with this and restore to its former glory.
Looks a little ruff in the pics, but the metal is perfect, and just needs a fresh finish to make good again.
i've taken the grafs and flights off it for the time being.

Looks nice survivor condition 8)
I can't say either way what too do both Pro Class and HLT's are lovely track and magazine icons :smitten:

I don't reckon much of the seat... :-\
-
I am liking the Proclass Myself but if you have no love :smitten: for it then maybe the Leary is the way to go??
-
Both are really nice bikes.. And you happen to have one..! Not a great lover of the goose, but a pro class is the bollocks :daumenhoch:
-
Leary every single time
Hell yeah I only have I regret :-\
-

Not a lot of pro class frames left with original black/smoke chrome on. Would be a crime if it were stripped n resto'd. Extra cool that it's an ex rider's :coolsmiley:
Gotta build what you love at the end of the day but that would make an awesome survivor build 8)
-
Love the goose :smitten: what is the lock nut on that headset? ???
-
If its a Leary you are after theres one just been listed on the bay for 2000

So you want a Leary.............
-
had 3 learys, but sold those all before i had them too long.
as i'm now looking to "finish" my collection, just want to really go for the bikes i 100% want.
know what you mean about stripping the original finish on the proclass, but also think it deserves a full resto to keep it nice.
i bought it direct from the factory rider, nice guy and easy to deal with, Dave Bender, i believe his Brother also used to race.
always on eBay, so will also be looking for the right one there, but want to decide on this first.
:daumenhoch:
-
Both lovely looking bikes but I'd say go with with what floats your boat and means most to you. :daumenhoch:
-
Love the goose :smitten: what is the lock nut on that headset? ???
looks like a D.K headset lock, along with the seatclamp
-
leary for me any day , pro class is nice but not a must have for me
only goose i want is a 76 motomag

Thought as much. Cheers buddy :daumenhoch:

I'd go for a Leary 8)

Tuff choice. Leary Turbo for me . :daumenhoch:

Poor lad... ;D

Well seeing as you put it like that Paul , I gotta agree :)
I have a a Mk1 Leary :smitten: , but no Pro class ( although they were a flagship model) :smitten:
But a 76 Mongoose is probably more desirable 8)
As always though,,,different strokes ,for different folks ::) :daumenhoch:
-
Had a Leary and loved it, but I also like bikes that were raced by pro's. Even a nice looking "replica" gets my attention regardless of make. I'm not a huge post 80 Goose fan but would like to see this built up to its former glory when it was raced in anger. :daumenhoch:
-
i'd keep the Goose as it has history :smitten:
-
build it up & get Del to knock you up some custom 'Bender' decals for it :daumenhoch:
-
You should do whatever your heart and head yearns for, to me it's sounding like the Leary is tugging those heart strings....
-
thanks for everyones comments, (think the bender decal idea is good ) :LolLolLolLol:
i'll try and find a mongoose or pro class fan who wants to pay fair money for it,
and then look to get a leary in the new year, once all my ebay stuff has sold.

Didn't they do the Leary Turbo in two colours on the later small gusset version? That other colours got to be the one to go for :daumenhoch:

The MK2 HLT's in grey paint ( Primer like) finish ,,the one that Leary used to ride was Factory rider issue only I think Bob :-\
Also the ones that were smoked but had gold decals as opposed to chrome were Factory team only too 8)
Were there any other colours ?

i was going to do a grey leary factory copy, but instead doing it on a mk1 rather than 2nd gen small gusset.
i seem to remember the German guy called Max or something that was into DB's a few years ago did one, as it looked great :smitten:
i wont bother with re smoking it, straight off to get it coloured Grey, more than likely powder rather than paint, so a visit to SBD.
:daumenhoch:
-
Wasn't it max farren a few years ago had a grey one ?
Smoked chrome all the way for me .
-
pro-class.
the leary has been done to death...
-

Smoked chrome all the way for me .
Max used to hang around riding with us when were kids .
When I got back into the scene 6 years ago he had all but packed it in
Not sure if the grey one he had would've been Bof's old one from BITD ???
Sparky that Non Koisumi one is babba :-\

Yes, Max Farren (uboatpirat) on Ebay used to have one, last time I spoke to him was a couple of years ago, he sold everything apart from his Kuwi that he said he would never part with. He was into Military memorabilia if I recall and continued to concentrate on that. :daumenhoch:

When we were kids he had an E.T the replica spec ( steel wheels and win stem )
wonder if it was the same bike ::)

Nice shots those, though Grey was not a factory team colour :daumenhoch:
The only real thing that identified a team rider for DB were the gold decals.
I can't say the Grey inspires me, but neither do I dislike it.
I'll see if I can dig out the pictures of the one Max had.
-
Yeah good guy Max, we got two sets of grey/black oakley f1's sent over from the US..
I popped over to Blackpool to collect them think they were £86 a pair... ohh thats around 8years ago
Time doesnt half fly
He had a load of great OS bmx stuff.. like a biagio of the early noughties.. sold a job lot to san marco if i remember.
