Yep, as said above: Blue / Red / Gold / Black & the DX Silver Series (look like CP in the pic rather than Silver ano??)  ???
Sam restored some nice black ones recently. Not sure what paint he used though.

I'm pretty sure they went all freestyle funky in the late 80s with pink, orange, green etc. probably lashed over the original colour.

I was just  looking back through very early BMX Action bike mags

and the  few shops that stated their DX  colours, only mentioned the 4 colours but  no black

,,did they come out late 83 ,, probably  ???

Like I said I don't think they did black till SX cameout

Paul (Monkian's)  ad is when SX were in production

DX's are pretty cool in black  :)

Nice job on those Sammy  :smitten:

Just a side note......

All the original finish survivor or NOS black DX I have come across have the raised shimano logo un-painted.

Whilst we are on black pedals, I got these nos puppies a while back, but I suspect they date from much later than mid 80's.

These ones were around somewhere between 82 and 84, Suntour changed the bodies to remove the bracing and then put it back (possible to give the cage more support).

Suntour changed the braced XC-I bodies 4 production reason only!
There was always a left & right body needed, because off the 2 & 3 teeth on the pedal-body!
When u have 2 teeth on de body(XC-II)you dont need a left/right pedal-body anymore.....
Higher output/target i d would guess!
