Got this bike from carboot sale today but not sure what it is. The parts on it are, suntour stem, suntour 3 piece crank, shimano pedals - not dx though, araya wheels with suzue hubs, tange forks, and also crappy new school velo seat!! Not bad for only £8

-
i dont have a clue what it is but parts alone got to be worth £8 so am well happy :daumenhoch:
-
Judging by that headtube I'd say it is a Patterson Mini. If I'm right then that is probably worth a fair bit.
-
Yeah i thought Patterson Expert with the machined headtube and the rear dropout shape.

Top find fella.

and to think i had cheek to offer him a fiver!! worth the extra £3 i think.
-
The 83 Torkers had a machined headtube like that too... ;)
-
the ridged section on the torkers/haros isn't that big tho is it - it's only about half that size ;)
-
not sure if this is a patterson as the ones i have looked at have a gusset of some sort between bottom bracket and rear wheel. if you look in second pic this doesnt have one. any other suggestions?
cheers
-
just found letters J R stamped on inside of rear drop out. any ideas? also bottom bracket is smaller than normal

-
JR may mean junior, hence the small BB

Defo looking like a Patterson JR.
Check this link http://www.vintagebmx.com/cgi-bin/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=023164#000000
Look at the JR stamp, also the high seat tube and the line of the rear chain stays.
What a find :4_17_5:

If being in the lead means buying the most amount of old shite, then the answer is no, cos that's me :4_17_5:
If it means buying the best bike at a booty, then the answer's probably yes, you git :2gunsfiring_v1:
