Title: any advantage on higher bar on my kuwi cruiser
Post by: DoubleD on November 25, 2011, 08:25 AM
is there anyone of you that had put a  higher bar on there cruiser

iam a pretty tall guy  almost 2 meters   and feels like i am leaning to much weight on my bar
would it be easyer  for me to put a bigger bar on it  or is it just a waste of money ?

cheers.

In a word, yes!
If it's for cruising around on then a pair of normal pro bars (8" rise) could make the bike more comfy.  If it's for serious riding then some taller cruiser bars (~7" rise) might be the ticket.  If it's a new skool cruiser then you can play around with having your stem flipped over or top-loading, and try spacers above and below to get the height perfect.

I'm only a tad over 6' so I do fine on a normal 'pro' sized cruiser with normal reach stem and normal height ~6" bars. One of the guys at Bradford is about 6'3 or 6'4" and he has a longer reach stem and some slightly taller cruiser bars, I think Fly bars maybe?

There's a really tall dutch guy who sometimes posts on BMXTalk who could probably give good advice, Bo something?

Mark Searle uses 20" bars on his cruiser as he is pretty tall, they help him get awesome gates but hinder him sprinting and jumping.

(I coach him)

 :)

the sprinting is down to being un fit!!....the jumping is lack of nerve!  if you are tall,bigger bars are really comfy.

added some pro bars today  on my cruiser  and it looks like shite

but at the track WOW   much easyer to manual and jumping,   i had to get used to the feeling of the bike, feels totally differend: But better then before

almost over pullled myself the first time  i tried to manual over the first double

after 2 hours  it feels  so good  and so much easyer

a BIG ++++
