Got a build and i'm not sure of the position on the tech 2's
lever 1 has a good reach with my fingers but has the goat look where the lever are sat
lever 2 has a better look, but is hard to reach with my fingers and won't go any higher
so over the cross bar or under ?
what are your thoughts and choice ?

as i don't know how to do a poll on here ???
please can you put lever 1 or lever 2
cheers B ;)
-
L1 , doesn't actually look bad at all IMO ??? :)
look good and functional , Happy days :daumenhoch:
-
Both look good to me :daumenhoch:, L1 won't hit the end of the grip will it ? :-\
-
I tried running L2 before B, it's ever so slightly out of reach. So I'd recommend L1 :daumenhoch:

I hve the same sort of set up on the Pro Burner - it works well - but when i posted back a while ago a pic of it when some one asked about tech 2's, they said they were in the wrong place and that the levers should look like L2 ? hence the thread ???
grips - I was hoping to use my black ame's and that they would fit with L1
which are the grips with the cut outs in the flange part of the grips - ame ?
strange when you look at both positions they work - L2 looking like a older earlier style - but i also like L1
-
L1 for me. L2 just looks to far away :-X
-
with my little sausage fingers it does work better ;D
just don't want the L1 hate group on my back ;) ;D

I think tech 2's are meant to placed under the cross bar on v-bars, as per Raleigh brochure pics for example. But Ifound on my 83 AP, they were just too far away, so for funtionality, I'd stick with L1 ;)
-
tech 2s work best above the cross bar as they are to far away below it
heres a pic of my ACE back in 81/82 which has DB pro bars on it and a tech 2, you can clearly see how i can reach the lever in the above cross bar position :daumenhoch:

thanks for that pic, its been at least 34 seconds since I last saw it on this forum :2funny:
-
great pic's never die >:D
cheers - I think that i L1 is the choice - i have droped it down about 2mm and now sits on the weld of the cross bar - it also is in line with the cross bar when looking over the top of it - gives it what i call it the goat look

Deffo L1 for me on these bars..

The grips with the cut out are Ame Mini's :-\
-

only pic i have that clearly shows the tech 2
if you don't like it don't look but don't start insulting me for trying to help some one when from what i've seen your knowledge of o/s bmx could be written on the back of a stamp

Is that a big or small stamp Andy?
Not a fan of Tech 2's as I couldn't get them to work on anything but ProClass or CW bars tbh.
What pic is it by the way Andy as I'm on my phone? Is it the one with your 80's mullet hair and combat jacket looking like you got let out for the day before the sunshine bus picks you up again? ;-D

:LolLolLolLol: no mate, it's the BORING black and white one on the ACE :Great_Britain: wearing my flight jacket ::)
bendy, the goat look is all the rage at the moment :LolLolLolLol:

? ???
-
L2 looks pretty odd to me but I would go for whichever one works better.
Im also not a fan of Tech2 and only ride Tech3s and Tech4s. Still, I would like to have a go with them as not used them since the 80s and want to see how they perform..

Paul

I don't mind the thec 2's as that is what came on the Pro Burner and that feels nice to ride and the brakes work well on it
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/tt183/ELEVENTEENBENDYCAT/PRO%20BURNER%20DAYS%20OUT/SNC12624.jpg)
Yes there are better looking and working levers and yes the bars are a pain to get them right with position but for this build i have it will work for me ;)

no probs mate :daumenhoch:
-
prefer the look of the one on the right as you look at the picture, though never liked the levers much as they just never seemed to work well on normal bars and most people tried them with them pointing downwards looking rediculus ;D
-
L1 works best, positioned slightly above the crossbar and in a position that is comfortable for you to reach :daumenhoch:

<pedant mode>
Thing is, you already decided which way you wanted to go on page one at 4:15 pm, hence, thus and therefore the rest of this thread has become and irrelavence and is clearly ripe for a bit of:

it's a good job I'm not a pedant, otherwise I might feel compelled to point out that the statement above should read 'become an irrelevance' in order to be spelled correctly.

Oh Griff, you're so predantic..... (my favourite gag at the mo)
Back on topic for a mo, L1 if you want them to work nicely. Tune them into your reach with the throw adjuster screw.

;D
-
fookin glad i never got em now :2funny:
-
got them both L1 and in line with cross bar - fingers reach and they don't get in the way of the flanges on the grips
I just wanted a different look on this build - have 4 sets of tech 3's for builds and just wanted a older look with this
so i guess tech 3's go with nearly every thing
tech 4's seem to be a second choice for build if T3's not around
so what rides came with or used tech 2's
and is there a Tech 1 lever ?
-
First Tech 2 lever :-\
