Title: WAL Riot Knowledge
Post by: Semi-C on December 15, 2011, 02:09 PM
I Inherited a Wilkerson Airlines F & F a wee while back and have (barely) assembled it with an array of odds and sods lurking amongst the spiders webs and bald tyres in my shed. I know it's an ignorant question I ask but, can anybody out there hook us up with some gen on it re: age, specs, anything useful/useless etc. It's on 14mm rear dropouts which I'm guessing isn't factory?, it has no AD lugs on the rear but could have provision for a coaster brake?? (not sure though, haven't seen it since Saturday...) Owt anybody can speculate or tell us really would be most greatly appreciated.

Ta very much.

awesome f/f, quality built by SE altho some early ones were made in house and had alignment issues with back end, i am led to believe that to keep costs down in the early days, ron got hold of some 24" fork legs cheap n adapted them for the 20" hence the fork legs. bars, grips, bashgaurds n pegs were also available. dan dare had a WAL with a coaster bracket which was the only difference to mine but i aint got a pic of that. a couple of pics of mine with later "juice bars" on.

:) Thankfully not, they've been put to good use as leaf sweepers with a few sensible additions. Currently ain't using the bosses on em, kept clipping curbs.

Good gawd, Orgasmdonor, them's sure are reet purty rides. It reminds me how fly they looked in factory colours with proper parts on them. I was just psyched to salvage mine but after seeing them, i get the nagging feeling that I should make a little more effort building it better. Many many thanks for your wisdom guys, top drawer.

I had one of these when they come out. It lasted 3days!!!!!

The rear dropout cracked doing tail whips!  There is hardly any of the rear seat stay or chain stay tubing welded to the drop outs. All the first one were like this. Shockingly poo!!

And they wouldn't replace it. Bunch of cnuts!!  :knuppel2: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:

I would never touch another one! :(
