Title: Hoffman Flash with AD mounts.
Post by: Semi-C on December 16, 2011, 02:48 PM
Wotcha, after being bestowed with glorious ammounts of info regarding my WAL Riot, (many thanks again y'all  :daumenhoch: ) thought I'd ask around a bit and see if anybody's got much knowledge to share about the Hoffman Flash with AD mounts? I got it a while back with no history, really fancied trying one out and found it to be one of the most comfortable frames I've ever had the privilege to fall off of. It has 10 mm dropouts with AD's mounted on chainstays shaped a bit like a Condor, 1 1/8 headtube, 7/8 seatpost, one cable guide on downtube and a wishbone similar to a D130. Dunno what year it could be or much else at all about it really and thought that this seemed like the place to ask. Ta for taking the time to read through all this

sounds like a ramp-room model, trails orientation, nice frame, 1995/6?

Very nice things as it happens. A bit overlooked I always thought.

Smashing stuff. Can't recall ever seeing any for sale new, one of me pals had a chrome canti braked one but that had a smaller wishbone and resembled an anorexic TAJ frame, which coincidentally was my weapon of choice for many years of skidding about the lanes on. J'adore le TAJ frame  :smitten:

I bought a black one new, came as a frame kit.
Frame, forks, stem & bars.

Lovely frame, bit heavy, but great to ride.
Bent the forks very easily, only forks I,ve ever damaged.
HB clamp on stem.
HB Race lite? bars, I think Martyc has these now (still got a Backyard sticker on them).  :daumenhoch:

yeah 96. ramp room made (the flashes with 990s are the only ones made in the ramp room)  they used leftover 94 condor dropouts. (a few early ones even had 94 condor serials still stamped into them.)
they should be a 1 inch threadless setup, not 1 1/8th.
 decals NEVER come around.  :(

Cool advert Condor, mine was a maxi.
Never knew that was it's correct name, always assumed it was an XL.  :)

It was a test in Snap, RIP, that made me want one (a red one but the importers only had black left).

yes you are right, i had to go look at a spec list  :daumenhoch:  ive never had one in hand or even seen one in person. i just figured they were 1 inch threadless as they were still using 1 inch threaded on everything else at the time..... then they had 1 inch threadless......then a year later they finally switched to 1 1/8th (on every other bike they made)

The Flash is why I hoarded 1" threadless headsets  :D - fookin loved the bright red Flash I had - even for a tall fella it rolled the trails like nothing else  :daumenhoch:

I have an original ramp room head tube decal from the old Hoffman factory at Oklahoma and a few sets of decals for the later flash's. I may purchase a ramp room model one day if I see one for sale, then I will have every version. :daumenhoch:

I'll try and locate a camera that you can attach to a computer and get a portfolio of shots of my pile of ol' frames on here. Tried loading pics on a computer before but couldn't get the drawer on the tower to accept the Polaroids I had, suffice to say, computer literate I am not.

That sounds like either a disk tray or floppy disk slot. ;D buy a scanner, or a new digital camera altogether as a polaroid won't take very good shots
