i used to use ame tri /cam ,tried b1bs but they didnt last 5 mins possibly the most overated grips out there, loved uni grenades and unitrons ,but i had 3 bikes, one for messing about on (firebird) cw zx pro 20" racing and a cw cruiser for racing ,so i used loads of grips!! :daumenhoch:
-
Used Ame tris a lot then Jive handles but they didnt last very long.
-
A'me Rounds in White.... :daumenhoch:
-
Mushies but they never lasted long!
-
Various Ame, and Mushrooms I & IIs - none were up to the job or lasted very long.
Towards the end (89-90) I had a very basic Scott grip on my 20" [think it was a quadbike grip], and on my cruiser I had an ODI grip, like an early Longneck but with an internal metal cap at the end. Both were thick rubber and lasted well.
-
i used mushies then grab on 2s which i fookin loved until i bought som sharp 1.11s with the early soft compound, they were the best grips ever :daumenhoch: the later ones were too hard
-
Ame rounds , also B1B's , mostly ended up with Unitrons ;)
-
ame's of some form, nice, comfy and cheap, tried oakley 3's once they were shite, other oakleys were too expensive for me, especially when they only lasted a few weeks...

Forgot about the Sharps - yeah I had a pair and they lasted really well until they 'stretched' a bit and the rubber got a bit dry, best grip I had in the mid-80s for sho :daumenhoch:
-
Tried mushroom grips and hated them. Far too spongy. Used Sharp 1:11's for a bit and they were pretty good. Jive handles were awesome, but wore out too quickly. Tried some A'me Duals and they were OK, but loved A'me Tri the best.
-
Sharp 1:11's followed by Am'e.
-
You lot were all spoilt......we just used whatever copies the local shop had :daumenhoch:
-
Mushy 1's and 2's :smitten:
Had a set of unitrons but they felt too hard for my soft and gental hands :-[
By the way anyone got a NOS set of red mushy 1's ???
-
odi mushrooms in green :smitten:

1st ever set were some oakley 1's but didnt like them and ended up swapping them for a set of mushies :idiot2: I actuallt thought they were very comfy :daumenhoch:
-
Ame rounds and sm mushies
I have a set of red odi mushrooms pete :P
-
The original A'me mountain bike grips. :smitten:
Not the same as the ones today. I've only seen one pair since getting back into BMX on a for sale thread in the US.
Lasted forever and had no big flange to give you blisters on the inside of your thumbs!
-
Pretty sure I had Oakley twos and then threes
-
Oury's, then copy mushrooms, then Sharp grips, then original mushrooms. The ODI's always wore quick and became goo in your hands though :crazy2:
-
A'me tri for me Alan's had loads of them ..

i used to use ame tris and loved them, funny how everybody hates em now :-\
-
ame and still do now :daumenhoch:
-
ame rounds for me :daumenhoch:
-
AME rounds and duals, funny thing is i like Tri's now, they soften up really nice after a few rides.
i put plastic plugs into the bars then grips on,makes em last longer before the ends go through :daumenhoch:
-
ODI mushys on my first bike, comfy but wore out in no time.sharp xc 1:11 on the next one, lovely grips!then when they wore out ame rounds, still running them today! :daumenhoch:
-

Living in the land of OT cycles it was all Sharp grips.
-
Mushies.. Grips were the one thing we never swapped..way to many things going with the hand in those days.. Like it ever stopped. ::)
