I have some stuck in my sport, and I don't know how to get them out? Can somebody help please?
Thanks :daumenhoch:
-
Without a specific tool i just use a hammer and a piece of broomhandle or something similar from the other side. Rotate the taps around the cup to keep it square :daumenhoch:
-
Have you got a socket set ?
if so put the extension piece through the BB shell against the inside of the cup and tap it out with a mallet .
or , like oldschoolace says , bit of dowel or something blunt will do just as well :daumenhoch:
smear them with a bit of grease when you`re ready to put them back :4_17_5:

Thanks guys, hardly coming out though, been doing it for like 15 mins and it' barely done anything ::)
-
i suggest a dose of 'man the hell up' :daumenhoch:
-
:LolLolLolLol: ^^^^^^
Just hit them hard, don't fanny about with them.
-
I think they've been in there for 20+ years. I'll try properly tomorrow
-
Don't fanny about.
They need 'shocking' out so use a reasonably heavy metal hammer and blunt metal rod (socket set extension is a good idea), this will get them out.
Rubber mallet and wood won't touch it.
-
I've got a big flat head screwdriver with a knackered end, but a nice hard plastic handle, i use the handle against the cups so not to damage them and hit the flathead end, never failed for me yet
-
Get it hit man! ;D
-
just fookin hit it and stop pussy footin about ::)
-
14lb lump hammer and a nice drift, job done :daumenhoch:
-
Watch out though as they will ping out and smash things :daumenhoch:
-
'hit the hammer with a screw driver' 'just whack it with a socket extension' you animals are never getting near my snap-on stuff!
-
Use some 20mm Conduit and a big fook off hammer and give it some welly lad. :daumenhoch:

I tried a rubber mallet and a seatpost, I didn't wanna damage the frame or anything, I'll try something a bit stronger next time
-
Used this once for a particularly tough BB ;D

Try sticking the frame indoors to warm it up then go to town. If its cold the bottom bracket may be a tight fit.
-
Fook me.....is that a transformer!

One little tip for you - once you've got a real hammer and a metal punch of some sort (it needs to be solid and long, a seatpost isn't going to do it...) and you've got the bike lying down and nicely supported, then give the cup a whack at 12 o'clock - imagine a clock face - then 6 o'clock, then 9 o'clock, then 3 o'clock.
Repeat this pattern and things will start to move nicely without damaging owt. Once the cups are fully on the move you can just hit in two spots instead of four. Opposing spots, obviously.
For the future, treat yourself to a good quality long punch. You'll be amazed how much you end up using it.

Careful though.......
