lifted this from coloredtuffs facebook page (I was on coloredtuff for reasons im yet to tell my mrs about, I pressed the "buy"button again)
Anyways, little info on it, its in Entertainment weekly magazine (US) and the suggestion is that its the screen prop bike, and is kept in his office. Obviously the basket is wrong but anyone know anything more on this??
Im sorry if this has been posted before :)
-
why is the basket wrong - sagy chain - axle right to inside of the drop out - cable all out of place - tires look a bit flat - WTF ?
looks more of a set up prop just for the shot ???

I was sure Tom from Kasabian owns the Elliot bike, I remember reading a report from the auction some where
EDIT
here's a link to the story

As far as i know the original is hung up at Industrial light and magic.

strangely enough i was reading a book about the Shindler jews last week and the writer mentioned that he saw the ET bike at Spielberg's Amblin Office when they went to talk to him :daumenhoch:
-
I would imagine there were a few 'original' Elliot ET bikes for the movies so it is feasible that Speilberg, Industial L&M and Kasabian guy all have one.
-
Darren KAP had just called Spielburg and dibbed it

Most of what I've read suggests otherwise. Straight from the horses mouth...

In order, what are the three most expensive things you’ve ever bought?
Probably my apartment in Leicester. Second thing is my ET bike.
The actual bike from ET? Did you buy it at auction?
It’s not the actual bike, I wouldn’t be able to get near that, mate. I’ve got a copy of one. And then the third one is a jacket. I forget the make. [phone rings elsewhere in the room] Hold on a sec mate… [in background] No Helen, I’m just talking to the geezer now. Yeah we’re running a bit late. I’ll text you when I’m done. [back on the phone] Sorry about that, mate.

why is the basket wrong
It might not be ,,but it doesn't look like this one in the movie :-\
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/u24/hunterdubber/etposter.jpg)
Howie Cohen ( the guy who supplied all the Kuwahara's for the movie) had a basket like that wire one on his site
but they were an aftermarket add on , so maybe he gave it to Speilberg to try and complete the look if it was missing .
I'd've thought if that actual bike was used in the movie ,,it would have the correct basket attached . :-\
It's more than likely just a spare one of the few supplied for the movie ::)
Besides the brown and baby blue "Bob Haro balaclava" KZ1 is much rarer :smitten:

I heard he bought it for 10,000. They went to the same school as me too, but even I don't really care about that, so I doubt anyone else will.

Just noticed the milk crate in that close up shot and am gutted now. :( I stumbled across the exact milk crate in blue on us ebay going stupidly cheap. I passed on it as it wasn't white but on seeing that pic it looks like they have painted the crate. You can see the blue coming through on the corners where the paint must have worn

Mr DannyD will have snaffled that for his Elliot rep ;)
The ones I've seen before tended to be a grey/blue plastic milk crates ,probably the norm ;)

How do you know if it's the one like in et? The crate I mean, and that kuwahara that Bob Haro rode is awesome!
