So come on the who has ordered one?
I placed an order for a chrome one (after much deliberation) as was going to originally make a 24" version of my white 20". I also opted for the larger bars too to make it a proper cruiser rather than a race cruiser.
Also, i have a sneaky suspicion that we may all create very similar looking builds on these (wheels, cranks, stem etc) :LolLolLolLol:
Its going to be interesting to see who does what with theirs.
-
There's another post on here covering the 24". ;)
I went for chrome too, should sit nicely next to the 'little' white TA. :daumenhoch:
Really looking forward to receiving mine. I went for no front brake mounts and cruiser bars.
-
I went for a chrome one as it'll sit very nice next to my chrome 20" TA , :smitten:
-
Be easier to start a thread asking who's NOT getting one :LolLolLolLol:
-
Im not!!
-
Just wait until they rerelease the 20" version... :-X
-
I'm not either.
-
3 of us then :P
-
i'm not! wouldn't be seen dead riding a fooking rehashed modern remake of an old classic!
-

will be build for race whit shimano dxr stuff
so 4 of us now :D
-
I'm gonna get one & then gonna get truck below ............
http://www.cars-on-line.com/51840.html
Then I'm gonna video myself driving truck over F+F ;D
-
I've ordered one :daumenhoch:
Chrome with a set of bars as well :daumenhoch:
Hopefully by 2030 I'll have finished building it ??? and I can use it as a pub bike :daumenhoch:

Its all about marketing...

:) Watch for the prices of 24"Tioga etc tyres to rocket. Now `ll also be a good time to purchase 22.2-25.4mm shims, start a thread about how to fit an aheadset and another on removing v-brake mounts :daumenhoch:
-
I've got a chrome one on the way with the cruiser bars to match.
I still trying to decide what colour scheme to to with the chrome.
-
Nooooope. I've got 5 cruisers already :idiot2:
Although it took me 3 days to convince myself not too.
Bugger! Where's that site again!
-
I'm sure people will be getting parts together before the frames arrive so, are we looking at June time for a RAD 24" TA XL ride out?!?! ;D
-
I'm not getting one either. Look nice though and i bet they will be a dream to ride. :daumenhoch:

So that would be June 2013 judging by the usual timescale of Skyway retro products.

New a'me lockons would be cool, and how about a pivotal conversion on a selle turbo using S&M p-guts.
-
I was thinking about it but not for me ..
Untill I've had a quite a few beers and it's past midnight . :crazy2:

-
I'm not getting one either. Look nice though and i bet they will be a dream to ride. :daumenhoch:

You can ride Steves 20" instead, I've heard you like that. :D

-
So is everyone getting the new Tuff II pedals to go with the frame sets then ??? :coolsmiley:
Not for me, it's a new bike getting fitted with new school stuff that shouldn't break when it's ridden!! ;D
Quality products only, Chris King, Profile Racing etc etc.

-
Would like to get as many repop parts on mine as possible :-\ thats if I can find some repop profiles :'(
Its going to be a rider so they need to be tough enough for my ample figure :daumenhoch:
But deffo no Skyway wheels :idiot2:
-
What/ where are you getting your wheels from then? I'm finding it hard to find a nice set that don't have disc hubs etc?! :-\
-

Should be getting Skyways on it anyway, but otherwise buy some BMX hubs, 24" rims and lace them up yourself. Simples.... :LolLolLolLol:

-
:-*
Cheers fella
Think the framesets will be ready around the same time :coolsmiley:
Its an ideal time for Profile to cash in on the TA's release :daumenhoch:
I remember some people were not happy with the quality....can anyone remember what the problems were with the cranks ???

Anyone know what the crank is that is on the chrome prototype?
-
Jim I am pretty sure that the cranks you are talking about are SE Racing ones.
-
Anyone know what the crank is that is on the chrome prototype?
SE ones, like you would find on the 2011 OM Flyer :daumenhoch:

Just checked the SE ones on OM Flyer and they are five arm spider, the TA prototype has 4 arm spider. Which spider is that one?

I think these are the ones

-
OK, so whats the spider? :LolLolLolLol:
Had some 80s Profile Box cranks on my Changa and have to say they felt nicer than Redlines. So perhaps a retro set of those may be order of the day.
-
Jim, have a look over on Porkchops site. He does some retro spiders on there.

For cruising not racing, my mate Thorpedo tore one of them to bits coming out of the gate
-

The chrome 24" TA that I have has a new Bullseye spider on it. I will have them up on the planetBMX site soon. They are VERY sweet!
The cranks are 180mm SE cranks that I took off of a 2011 PK Ripper Team XLP complete bike. The chrome plating is GREAT on those, so I used them for that bike.
-
I shall keep an eye out for that Bullseye spider... ;)

You disagree on which point, or both, or just like being different?
-
Anyone know when these frames are gonna be ready?
Was a long wait for the 20" re issue frames... :-\
-
listen, as I have said, they will be up to the job for 90% of people who own them, great for cruising around on :daumenhoch:
Personally, I dont think they look good and know from experience that they are not up to anything more than that video shows, small, straight impacts at slow speed (and even then I wouldn't trust em, or the dropouts at the rear of those frames), they are laughably flexy when you pedal hard, the laughter alone makes it hard to ride them at pace and once they buckle, which they will, you are fooked as you will be using a V-Brake on those frames (much less pad clearance from the rim).
Do I like to be different....I am fookin different to most people, its what keeps me going
-
appartently these frame sets come with a disclaimer that you have to sign that allow only the use of skyway wheels.... ^"^
not them strung together old fashioned wire wheels that was designed in 1643..... :buck2:

On the 24" Tuff wheels issue,i have been behind Diggler on a track when he raced on some 20" tuffs, was like following a drunken octopus :D
The "rims" of the tuffs were scraping on the berm ,god knows what 24" ones would have been like :D
Of course, they will be ok for what most will use em for :daumenhoch:

It was I, leClerc, what adjusted his tyre pressure.... :coolsmiley:

:LolLolLolLol: i was just under him as he went round prestons 1st berm and his front wheel, literally like you say, was riding on the wall of the tyre, was a warm fookin day n he just left his bike in the full heat of the sun, was scary as fook coz i was sure they would either snap or snap back he fling him towards me, would be a brave man or a nugget to race 24" tuffs on a warm summers day :LolLolLolLol:
-
If anybody wants some white 24" skyways my mate is after shifting his. I have no idea about cost but I do know they are hardly used. Pm me and I'll put you in touch with him.

Anyone got a delivery date yet?... ???
-
Na not a peep Mark
I would say at best its going to be May/June time :daumenhoch:
-
Na not a peep Mark
I would say at best its going to be May/June time :daumenhoch:
A certain peeps on here told me not to get my hopes up as it's more likely gonna be next year , i really hope he's proved wrong
-
Wtf..... Could walk there in that time and weld it myself
-
I am about to cancel my order: I asked ed several times how the tracktests where done but no concrete answers just a few pics
Also the new hutch cruiser is coming out late 2012/ early 2013
the 20 inch is in production at the moment and its all new school race geometry
And Kuwahara is coming with the new lagesis cruiser.
Kuwahara has proven itself the last years: And my experience is very good with kuwahara
so i have to give it a good think where to spend my money
-
If they come as quick as the anniversary ones (that were already in tube kit form and just needed welding) ....you might get em by Julember :4_17_5:
-
So i walk into my local bike shop wanting a new frame and they ask for a deposit with no delivery date?
And expect me to wait till whenever they get round to making it?
I'd be saying 'no, get me one in stock then i'll pay for it'
Wonder how much interest they'll earn off all the deposits they've banked in the mean time?
-
Maybe the taiwanese are waiting for the Super Cosmic Quasimodo chrome to be delivered, thats why its going to be so late..... ???
-
:2funny:
I think that they seem a bit 'average', not quite old skool, not quite new skool... and now this ???
-
Na not a peep Mark
I would say at best its going to be May/June time :daumenhoch:
2014 ? ;D

Why fook about with that half arsed tat when there are fantastic companies out there that have a bullet proof rep and can build custom bikes like this?

only just seen this post and they look lovely but the ta 24 frames would last 5 minutes if start doing jumps on them .
-
But in reality, who would buy one of these things to use as a new school track/jump bike? if that's what you're after then i'd deffo look elsewhere!
have to agree there 'pay now and wiat for an eternity' policy fooking sucks!
