Title: 24" Skyway Cruiser
Post by: jimwise68 on January 13, 2012, 10:16 AM
So come on the who has ordered one?

I placed an order for a chrome one (after much deliberation) as was going to originally make a 24" version of my white 20". I also opted for the larger bars too to make it a proper cruiser rather than a race cruiser.

Also, i have a sneaky suspicion that we may all create very similar looking builds on these (wheels, cranks, stem etc)  :LolLolLolLol:
Its going to be interesting to see who does what with theirs.

There's another post on here covering the 24".  ;)
I went for chrome too, should sit nicely next to the 'little' white TA.  :daumenhoch:
Really looking forward to receiving mine. I went for no front brake mounts and cruiser bars.

So that would be June 2013 judging by the usual timescale of Skyway retro products.

The chrome 24" TA that I have has a new Bullseye spider on it.  I will have them up on the planetBMX site soon.  They are VERY sweet!
The cranks are 180mm SE cranks that I took off of a 2011 PK Ripper Team XLP complete bike.  The chrome plating is GREAT on those, so I used them for that bike.

listen, as I have said, they will be up to the job for 90% of people who own them,  great for cruising around on  :daumenhoch:
Personally, I dont think they look good and know from experience that they are not up to anything more than that video shows, small, straight impacts at slow speed (and even then I wouldn't trust em, or the dropouts at the rear of those frames), they are laughably flexy when you pedal hard, the laughter alone makes it hard to ride them at pace and once they buckle, which they will, you are fooked as you will be using a V-Brake on those frames (much less pad clearance from the rim).

Do I like to be different....I am fookin different to most people, its what keeps me going

On the 24" Tuff wheels issue,i have been behind Diggler on a track when he raced on some 20" tuffs, was like following a drunken octopus :D

The "rims" of the tuffs were scraping on the berm ,god knows what 24" ones would have been like :D

Of course, they will be ok for what most will use em for :daumenhoch:

:LolLolLolLol: i was just under him as he went round prestons 1st berm and his front wheel, literally like you say, was riding on the wall of the tyre, was a warm fookin day n he just left his bike in the full heat of the sun, was scary as fook coz i was sure they would either snap or snap back he fling him towards me, would be a brave man or a nugget to race 24" tuffs on a warm summers day :LolLolLolLol:

I am about to cancel my order: I asked ed several times  how the tracktests where done   but no concrete answers  just a few pics

Also the new hutch cruiser  is coming out  late 2012/ early 2013
the 20 inch is in production at the moment  and its all new school race geometry

And  Kuwahara  is coming with the new lagesis cruiser.
Kuwahara  has proven itself  the last years: And my experience  is very good with kuwahara

so  i have to give it a good think where to spend  my money

If they come as quick as the anniversary ones (that were already in tube kit form and just needed welding) ....you might get em by Julember  :4_17_5:

So i walk into my local bike shop wanting a new frame and they ask for a deposit with no delivery date?

And expect me to wait till whenever they get round to making it?

I'd be saying 'no, get me one in stock then i'll pay for it'

Wonder how much interest they'll earn off all the deposits they've banked in the mean time?

But in reality, who would buy one of these things to use as a new school track/jump bike?  if that's what you're after then i'd deffo look elsewhere!

have to agree there 'pay now and wiat for an eternity' policy fooking sucks!
