I have just picked up a manky manky haro gen 1 frame and fork. I have pics on my phone only.
I know they were chrome but I dont like rechromed frames plus its expensive too.
So i have decided to get it powdered by Superbikedan. Any ideas about what colour I should do?
I was thinking Candy Blue but would the decals clash?
Ideas would be great.
:)

Leave it manky, do a rat-look gen one.
That'd be cool as fook

I agree, leave it rusty!
If that is out of the question do it white like a Master, that be the way to go I reckon, white Masters are awesome!
-
A full chrome, inclusive of frame, fork and bars is only approx £170 at Hockleys and they will do it how you want them to. Thats roughly the same as a powder job for all 3 items and chrome lasts a lot longer :)
-
The frameset has been sprayed about 5 times although most of the paint is off. No decals remain.
The chrome is grey!!! It looks like someone has attempted to get the rust off of it with a brillo. It is impossible to even leave it as a survivor. I promise.
I like white but thought the candy blue might be a bit more different.
Hockley price is bloody good though.

Get a pic up :daumenhoch:
-
I will try. :)
-
lets see a pic .... id say leave as a survivor BUT if its that bad then defo rechrome. :daumenhoch:
-
Rechrome or summat crackers!
-
I agree with doing something different, it's nice to see something which is different from the norm. Scorcher Mick just proved it by doing his Gen 1 in Black and it won BOTM. I reckon Candy blue would be nice or a Flat Grey with white parts would look wicked.

NEON PINK  ;)
Get some pics up
or
Do it white like Ben (Kaner) said :4_17_5: White Masters are the 8)

Whits will always look awsome, keep it classic or think outside the box ::) For me personally, Classic is always a winner.
-
Not the best pics. Forks in garage but just as bad!!

Has it been re welded at the front gusset/headtube?
Cool frame, strip what's left of the paint and build it up, enjoy it... job done... :daumenhoch:
-
They always look mint in white :daumenhoch:
I think that's just past the survivor / rat look .. Look .. :daumenhoch:
-
White is so BORING!
-
That looks a lot better nick than you made out ::) :)
Strip , light polish and clear coat , raw , decals ,,,job done :coolsmiley:
-
Not sure on the re-weld. I check.
Was my friend's frame set and he would know. :)
The blue is still eating away at me. :tickedoff:
-
Are they as sought after as they used to be?

Hell yeah, what you have there my friend even in that condition, is regarded by most old schoolers as THE HOLY GRAIL of bmx, personally I would get hockleys to re-chrome it & get some new decals, you are one very lucky guy! :daumenhoch:
-
Fook leaving it tatty - nice find mate :daumenhoch:

i think "holy grail" is a bit strong as there are much rarer frame sets, but definetly sought after

SUPERB idea, was thinking exactly the same then saw that you already typed it.
But personally i would get it rechromed as the dropouts are in great shape, looks like the multi-layers of paint have kept the bodywork minty. Even the serial is in great shape.
-
I had my Haro Freestyler powdercoated green bitd, looked brilliant :daumenhoch:
-
polish it and laquer it or graphite grey would look cool

this,
would look amazing,
some "ford bellwash met blue" colour might seem like a good idea but it will almost certainly look shit.

thinking outside the box mate :4_17_5: thats what i do :) cant wait to see it finnished :daumenhoch:

or you could grease the whole frame, wrap it in paper, box it up and get £10k for it in another 20 years time...
