Title: stupid question about allen bolt sizes..
Post by: griff on January 18, 2012, 11:01 PM
swapped the seat clamp on my mirraco for a profile slim jim, but despite having loads of allen keys none of them seem to fit
4mm is too small, 5mm too big so thinking it must be a weird imperial size? (helpful)

anyone know what size(s) this might be?
even better if anyone going to boardroom on saturday has one please can you bring it with you so I can tighten it up?

cheers

griff

Don't know the size you're after but it'll be imperial, all profile stuff is...  :daumenhoch:

About 3 or 4 quid a full set at b&q. Shite quality, but good enough for a few Bmx bits and bobs.

I have two sets of allen keys on a rings - metric and imp  - save loads of time and bolts getting it right and not stripping out the head (to which i have done many a times  :-[)

result - just had another rummage in the spare room and discovered the screwdriver ratchet set I've never ever used has a set of imperial bits  :daumenhoch:
put a big allen key through the hole in the handle of the screwdriver for leverage and it worked a treat

now I just need to find a polished top loading stem to match the seat clamp  ;D
