Title: How do I remove brown spots from tyre skinwalls
Post by: Redline on January 20, 2012, 09:24 AM
Hey guys,

Just bought some early NOS IRC Racer tyres but they have what look like brown splodgy stains on the skinwalls and the inside of the tyres is covered in the stuff. Is there anything I can do or use to remove this as other than that the tyres are perfect.

Cheers

John

are they possibly rust spots from any steel banding that the tyre may have?

I have had some success from slightly browned tyre walls with 'Astonish' paste cleaner.

Think it's some kind of rot or fungus due to poor storage... I've mounted them on they anyways and they don't look too bad tbh

I had it on panaracers, was just a top layer of glue, hot water and scraped it off with a lolly stick
