Just got this in the mail - managed to snag it after some emails over the chrimbo period :)
OG paint (the pics are a bit dark and made the yellow out to be a bit Dale Winton), 20.5" TT, 1" OG Ditch Forks (with the peg mounts through the legs), GT sprocket, Peregrine peds, OG Castillo's, DK stem, 1" Oddy Gyro, GT seat clamp, and a G-Sport Fat Shaft II rear hub on a Super 7X (that's flakey....), MX99 lefty.
Seller also chucked in a set of Fishbone 3-piece cranks (the one's with the pierced arms). Nice of em :daumenhoch:
Keeping it as is, gonna pop a set of repop decals on (ta Del) - will update when it's back together again :)

Seat post that came with it is a bit of a mystery - fooking long with a knurled top - don't remeber Piece O' Pipes having a knurl so any ideas?
-
nice find, esp with it coming with the mk1 ditchforks :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:
never seen a fat shaft 2 before, almost the same as a homer and very different to a fat shaft 1 hub
has my all time fav chainring too!!!
did u pay much??
-
Another tasty treat in your stable. We gotta have the built up weight when your done. You been to the po yet XD
-
Love that Danny :coolsmiley:
-
super cool! love the decals on these as well :daumenhoch:
-
Not too much - gorrit all in including delivery for a couple of notes. Worth it though, as it's a good survivor, and didn't want to rip the bloke off I bought it from (as it was his bike from bitd and he had no idea of how much to charge - sickeningly honest of me there....).
Came with a decent nick Generix tan wall tyre n'all - front wheel's nowt to write home about, got a (yet another) pair of GT Profiles to pop on it. Might go with a set of Super Pro's, or stick with the Fat Shaft, Pro up front.
Yeah - don't see a lot of FSII's (got a FS I rear on my STA) - although if you own a pair of PE's then it's what could be called 'borrowed technology' *cough*.
And agree - lovely chainrings :daumenhoch:
Oooh - and p1ss - Jaymz - PO visit coming today!

Nearly forgot - here's the rear GSport Fat Shaft II hub. Was a pain in the rear getting the freewheel off (had to dremel then split the cage) as the freewheel had been on there since the rear wheel was new, and with the screw-in bearing cover/freewheel mount when I tried to get the freewheel off the whole unit came out.
Also note the similarity between this and an earlier hub that came out a couple of years before this one :-X

I love that frame :smitten: and the hub :daumenhoch:

That looks fresh as fook with the new decals. Great score :4_17_5:
-
lovely frame that. i have a nos one sitting in my house its chrome with the same decals. never guna build it if anybody is interested lmk.
:daumenhoch:
-
Does yours come with forks? Reason I ask is cos I'm after some good piccies of the 'Heavy As...' and 'F**k' that came sometimes on the toptube, sometimes on the forks as I can re-do em in Illustrator.
-

It was a design problem to get a big bearing behind the freewheel. I think earlier Gsport (or maybe Gack) hubs tried to do it so both bearings pushed in from the non drive side. PE were the first hubs to have the screw on freewheel thread that went on after the bearing was in-place.
But then the "cassette" design of hub (with the freewheel being part of the hub shell) solved it all much better/neater/smaller/lighter.
-
Yeah - not criticising design as at the time was a great idea - and the bigger bearings you could slap in hubs the better :)
I think it was Gack that did the first 'both bearings in from one side' - then the later GSport Homer hub did the same - using a spring collar to secure the drive side bearing. All good - stopped having to change peregrine axles/bearings every few months :)
-
Cheeky post bump as no bugger looks in the wanted section - but does anyone have a spare RH MX-99 lever? Or a pair I can buy - gonna run a frant brake for the first time in 16 years on this bike :)
-
Dan if you're really stuck found one here http://www.jensonusa.com
but £14.55 posted to the UK
-
Cheers Griff :daumenhoch: Might have to if one doesn't turn up soonish - reckon I'll have the HAF done by next week....
-
