Ha Ha thanks MARTY :daumenhoch: Its not a WHEELS as we know it but may well be MADE at the WHEELS site looking at the workman ship as people have said its not a LOOPY but they did make frames for other people :daumenhoch: MARCH RACING / MARK WHITE / ALAN WOODS MIRAGE to name but a few .............. Nice looking FRAME shame theres no FORKS ?
Whats the STORY behind it where did you get it ? Nice LOW serial number which makes me think along the wheels line and the LETTERING ;D
Nice ride get it built FELLA
Nice one WOODY

well the story go's a mate of mine bought it from Qld (Queensland) thinking it was a goose as it had 79-81 team goose parts on it , got it here to South Oz realised it wasn't a goose striped it down got it repowdered and it sat in his spare room for the last 6 months, during this time we have been trying to work out what the bloody hell it is !! now the only name throughn out there has been WHEELS because of the way its been put together i.e brasing and the serial , but all surches have turned up Wheels being of a loop tale construction. I then went to Museum who put me on to you guys :daumenhoch:
I do want to build this bike up because of uniquness but the only thing holding me back is i have no idea what it is so trying to build it up to spec not knowing year is a bit of a bugger :-\
so far i have some SR cranks , DX ped's , sugino spider , SR chain wheel, sugino chain wheel bolts, Tange head set, SR stem, Tange ARX forks, Rethal post, Tuff nek copy clamp, dia-comp MX lever , aero turbo ( turbo-81) seat, cro-mo pro bars ( unsure what make as they have been cut down allong with any stamping.) and suzue low flanged sealed bearing hubs ( yet to be built to rims)
hopefuly most of these parts are sort of on the money ??
-
Just want to add as well that its original colour was blue and some thing i thought was odd seeming its a old schooler and im guessing early 80's or even late 70's is that the TT is a woping 19.5 " (inches)?? would make it a varly long frame for its time.??
-
MARCH RACING / MARK WHITE / ALAN WOODS MIRAGE to name but a few
any photos of said bikes and the few others what would they be ??
cheers
-
damn, that loopy chainstay section seems such a distinctive feature............ :2gunsfiring_v1: :-\ this sucks
-

any one know what the Birmingham bikes were made of ?? cro-mo or hi-ten??
-
birmingham wheels were made of reynolds 531 tube,i collect british race frames but have never come across on of these,
i have collated loads of info and pics but have seen nothing like this ??? us brits wern't the only frame builders to braize
frames together so it might well have been built somewhere else ???
good luck with your search :daumenhoch:
-
well cheers anyway i still have no idea what it is :-\
