The axles don't look long enough to put pegs on, how long do they have to be to safely put pegs on?
Cheers :daumenhoch:
-
You want the nut to be fully threaded on.
MM
-
If it isn't long enough, can I get a longer front axle for tuff 2's?
-
You take the wheel nuts off and use the pegs to hold the wheel on
-
Not gonna work that way with the pegs I want to use, I need to use the wheel nuts aswell.
Can I get a longer front axle?
-
Do you want to use modern style pegs as opposed to the long old school trick nuts, as being mentioned above ?
Modern style pegs only require the axle sticking out about 6mm past the wheelnut .
Take the nut off,, ,peg on ,,,nut back on with a socket extension :)
Or are you using threaded pegs :-\
-
I want to use the modern ones, but pretty sure the axle doesn't stick 6mm past the wheelnut, hence my problem
-
Has it got tuffs on?
Just remove the existing washer from behind the wheel nut on the side you're fitting the pegs on, the pegs won't be much thicker than the washer you've removed... :daumenhoch:
They'll work fine with tuffs, just don't go doing anything to heavy on em, those 10mm axles will bend easy
-
Yeah it has tuffs on it, the washer behind the wheel nuts is one of those safety ones that locks the wheel onto the forks.

Chuck it away, unless you plan on riding with the wheel nuts loose you won't be needing it... :daumenhoch:
-
Ok, say I wanted to keep that washer, can I get a longer axle that fits tuffs?
Cheers
-
Took one of the front washers off and the axle still only sticks 3.5mm past the wheelnut.
-
Looks like the axle is 140mm, can I just knock that one out and put a longer one in? Does it need to be anything special?

This is a picture of the bike that was sent to me before it was bought, so it seems that it did have a much longer front axle, but for some reason the axle or more likely the wheel was changed before the bike was collected:-

great pics cheers :daumenhoch: now just need a pic of the pegs you want to use :)
Can can change the axle if you want but its unusual to have to do it... but if that last pic was of the bike you were buying then is pretty weird that it isn't what you got ???
-
yeah it is weird. ???

Would this one fit a front Skyway?
-
dude,i have a replacement front axle kit for a tuff, ill measure it now! :daumenhoch:
-
out of luck dude, sorry this one only measures 135 mm :(
-
just whack the peg on with no washer (use the peg as the washer) should be fine.........hell the tuff axle will bend anyway :daumenhoch:
-
i would just buy a set of the old SKYWAY pegs where you use the washer as the nut.less aggro than changing the axle!
