ive got a few bikes that im gonna restore to original this year ive done a few in the past and got caught up into spending loads nos parts but i was wondering does anyone just run bikes without restoring them like rat rides.....
-
Yeah lots of guys on here are involved with survivor builds or combine NOS with survivor...I have a couple in latter category! What are you building?
-
there have been a few folks riding the London Run on survivor bikes - no resto, bar being safe to ride - they look cool as in what we would have ridin back in the day 8)
as for like the Dub style with rust and junk ?
if you can make a bike safe to ride well why not ;)
-
Like B said, survivor is always nice to see someone riding a bashed up retro bmx around. Like the Pink Hutch that a guy had on the Brum ride just last weekend was class.
(iv only seen pics^^ as i didnt go)
Ratlook does nothing for me as my ocd would drive me crazy :uglystupid2: rusty clothes  ;D

Tadahhh! :LolLolLolLol:
Thats the one 8)
-
how cool is that...........i got a 89 bully, a 93 zima a 89 team master and a 89 master....been thinking of just throwing some parts on one of them and riding on a rad day or just down southsea somtimes without freaking out about scratching it up....... :D
-
That cruddy Trick Star was the coolest bike on the Brum ride - awesome :4_17_5:
Got some history too, it's still owned by the guy who rode it to 3rd in the UK Freestyle championships in 85 :coolsmiley:
-
i'd sooner look at the ole survivor bikes than the minters.there 10 a penny.but an old bike thats bashed has a story to tell.
love that hutch 8).
any pics of ya mid schoolers then.
-
Go on then, ok

gotta agree it was amazing, shame its going to be resto'd eventually before the red worm kills it completely

Has anyone ever entered a rider/ snotter/ rat look bike in the BOTM?
I ride all my bikes and where as i like to give them a bit of character swapping parts and stuff i dont think i would ever want to to turn one into i carpet queen.
I can totally appreciate the work and effort that goes into the builds on here and i have nothing but respect for the guys and gals that build them but i do find myself getting bored sometimes looking at the same old chrome goose/haro/Gt etc with the same spec parts.
You know what i mean i'm sure :D
-
lik this :daumenhoch: post pics of your rat rides :)
-
yer im kind of with you on this......ive got my bike that i ride most days but it good to mess about on the old 90s rides, i had 5 nos bikes that just sat in my spare room for 3 years and did nothing because i was to worried about riding them and wreaking stuff that cost me alot of money and time to find....ended up selling all of them in the end as well to free up space in the house.....a big mistake as im gutted that i did it but at the time i think i just got bored of not being able to use them...thats why this time im gonna run some bikes with out a resto so i can ride them and have some fun........but it great to see everyones rides on here you guys have got some amazing bikes........... :)

I wish I could afford to resto, but been lucky with the bikes I've built, both having a fairly sound chrome, just in need of a wash, wire wool and polish.
The GT is looking a little tatty now, so may give it an acid bath in the summer to get the rust off. All the parts are either on the bikes or stuff laying about in spares bins. The only NOS parts are the pedals on the GT (Oddysey Triple traps) Not shown on this pic, and the Mags on the no name bike.
The GT is a rider used daily to work and back, the other is for my lad which cost me £9 f+f (£40 NOS Acorn mags)

+1 on the love for the '89 Bully!!! Here's my contribution, an '83 Trident which I bought new and has been in storage for a good 8 years or so. Currently undecided what I should do with it - apart from pull the bars back, that is! :daumenhoch:

I had a survivor rat ride last summer. I entered it in the show and shine to much disbelief. That must of been when rat bikes weren't popular. I've since restored it to a show pony. Trust me to miss the bloody boat. Doh!!! :LolLolLolLol:
Anyway here's a few pics. :daumenhoch:
