I had a bit of a tidy up at the weekend and took a pic of some of the frames stashed at the back of the shed
I only really have 1-inch bikes (apart from my real bike) but Ive picked up a few early 1 1/8 frames along the way.
"Oh My Back!"

Hernia time :) Love the late 90's heavy metal bikes - riding the buggers gave you a six-pack though - all that lifting.......

nice, loving the grips on the oversized dirtbike :daumenhoch:

The Oversized Dirtbike is my mate Ian's*. He doesnt BMX much any more and that bike "lives" at mine. He has some other nice BMX's too, which I might get out of him one day! ;)
*(Ian "Vert Squirt" Osborne, he was in BMX Action bike a few times in the 80s)

You need a Call Girl just to top that collection off :)

Why stop with a Call Girl? OS Holmes, Next Gen Holmes, PBR & Bennet (I rode both of those frames for a while). There are/were quite a few S&M frames, which is why i drew the line at 1" ones. I dont wanna have 40+ bikes! haha

Forgot about the Bennet if we're talking heavy late midschoolery :D
I've got a spare room and cellar/loft full of 7lbs+ frames that I'm too scared to ride for fear of damaging my now flimsy body - none of them S&M though
-
My first OverSized bike was a Next Gen Dirtbike. It was just too much. Then I had a normal OverSized Dirtbike, then a Challenger, a Bennet and a PBR, and then back to the Challenger (and even that was heavy!). I didnt really get on with the weight of any of them :'(
God bless the LAF! :daumenhoch:
-
what other bikes does your friend have then alex?
my oversized holmes weighs quite a bit, cant believe i learnt wall taps on it around 7 years ago
but saying that my new school dirtbike isnt light! gotta be 26-27lbs atleast!!
-
God bless the LAF! :daumenhoch:
You're not wrong there :daumenhoch:
The other thing with the late 90's/early 00's were the bloody forks - weighing in at nearly the same as the frames (well, bit of an over-exaggeration...) - I remember going from using on dirt DK race forks to DK Streets - front end of the bike just wouldn't stay pointing in the right direction :)

He has some 80s tat. His old Hutch, a few Loop-tail PKs (I think the blue one pictured is in my shed), maybe a TA / Aero Burner or 2 (he went tho loads of both of them, he was well into the DBI thing).

He might still have a 1" dirtbike but I think thats gone. I know he has a very nice Early OverSized Challenger cos I found it for him not long ago :daumenhoch:

Nice line up Alex, that Blue Sabbath would look great next to my Blue RV
-
That Sabbath would look even better next to Mine, as would the Warpig, I can't find One anywhere!
-
cool mag pics and the challenger looks nice, although for some reason the headtube looks huge to me, i know its a oversize challenger but it just looks so big
-
Speaking of heavy metal - looky what turned up for me today - an S&M Kris Bennett + Pitch's. Didn't realise these were made by Kastan.......

;D You got me back though Kev - STANDARD PEGS!
Think there might be an interesting story behind these frames - seems they came out around the time that S&M started full blown in-house production? Either the dropouts are Kastan made (as S&M didn't have a laser cutter at the time or summit?) or Kastan made em for em - the serials on the BB, other one's have the serial as per on one of the drops, some have 'USA' on the seatstay wishbone, some don't..... good old S&M :daumenhoch:

the standard pegs were just a lucky spot and a cheaky ask if he would sell them :daumenhoch:

For a dirt jumper, Bennett really over built that frame, I bet he never actually rode one tho, looks too fecin heavy.

Here's my Bennet and my PBR. I didnt really like either of them :'(
I didnt like the "droopy erection" toptube wishbone on the Bennet. :-X
I didnt like the low chainstays on the PBR. >:(
And they were both way to heavy!
(I sold both of them on Ebay for under £50 each. I would have like to still have them both now)

Them drops on the PBR are a bit '90's Standard' - (just to add I'm not slagging off Standard!). Is that rear left drop on the KB larger than the right (looks almost like it's a freewheel protector drop) or is it just shadow?
You and Kev can have first dib dobs on the KB if I ever get shot :)
-
Them drops on the PBR are a bit '90's Standard'
Yeah, they totally are. I hated the early standard dropouts (which were way lower than the PBR)
Is that rear left drop on the KB larger than the right (looks almost like it's a freewheel protector drop) or is it just shadow?
Yeah, i did that on a few frames. Got the chain side dropout made bigger to protect the (16t) freewheel. I did it on my A-head challenger as well but I ground it all back again so they were the same.
I also put rear facing chain adjusters on the Bennet. They worked SO well, but didnt look very slick.
