Title: 1985 Skyway Streetbeat Finished.
Post by: Retrodan72 on February 28, 2012, 02:05 PM
Just put the cable ties on this last night, so now it's complete and ready for the Chester ride next month.  :coolsmiley:

This was, and is with all my builds, done on a budget. You'll see i've used a lot of repop parts, not for the purists but I like to build my bikes and ride them so hanging about for the correct part, paying through the nose for it then worrying about scratching it if I come off isn't an option for me. ;)

Thanks to everyone who played a part in getting this build together, and sorry for not mentioning those i've forgotten, you know who you are. :daumenhoch:

1985 Skyway Streetbeat frame and forks - painted by Supremo Superbike Dan
1985 Skyway Gen II EZ Bars - Carl (In2BMX)
Generic Chromoly layback - eBay
Repop Kashimax Aero - eBay, with 'Aero' decal from Retrospect and polished unbranded guts
Repop DC seat clamp - Alan's
Repop A'me grips - eBay
Blue donuts - Porkchop
SR Stem - Wini, powdered by SBD, decal from Dave (Brummie)
Hollow stem bolt - Kappy
Repop Tuff II's - eBay
Cheng Shin fresstyle tyres - Rini's
Streetbeat decals - Rini's
Tange headset - Gaz (Rolin72)
Tange BB - eBay, rechromed by chromefix.co.uk
DC copy brakeset - Porkchop, with decals from Retrospect
Repop DC Tech 3 levers - Alan's
NOS '85 Tuff pads - eBay
4 x NOS Skyway axle extenders - 1 pair from Tom(radpitt). 1 from another RAD member I can't remember??? :-[
Generic white cables - eBay
NOS Shimano PDMX pedals - Finny, stripped by me
Rechromed Sugino 1 piece crank
Unbranded chainring bolts
Chrome Sugino spider - Dave(Brummie)
KMC zebra chain - eBay
...and one of my favourite bits from the whole build are a set of Custom valve caps from ScottyB,

Cheers Dave, they charged me £40 for 2 Sugino cranks in November, and £40 for 2 Tange BB's, £40's a minimum charge they said.

Great build my friend :daumenhoch:

thanks fella's. Its all about how a bike looks for me, and rides, I could never afford top end parts then and can't now, but if it looks the part then i'm happy with the result.
