First off; this might not be what you'd call a proper 'freestyle' bike. However, in the early 80's a cheap bike like this would've been an all-rounder; I'm just focusing it a bit more! :daumenhoch:
Now, the purists are going to HATE THIS but the important thing to know is this project is being built on three foundations. It has to be CHEAP, FUN TO BUILD and FUN TO RIDE!
But most importantly, CHEAP!!! :LolLolLolLol:
It started off when I had a lot of parts left over from the Badlander build and I thought 'Ooh, all I need is a frame and forks and I can build another bike (almost!)'. ;)
Nothing was coming my way, meaning nothing was cheap enough for me! :LolLolLolLol:
Then rakas17 put one of his Falcon Pro's on eBay and I thought I'd have a cheeky bid not expecting to win this fine piece of British engineering but lo and behold a few days later I'm looking at a quality example of a Falcon Pro Aero Flyer sitting at my feet! ;D
For those of you who have seen my frame restoration thread you'll know how rusty it was when I got it. However, it cleaned up nicely with Coke and foil and a bit of polish and Del did a first class job of replicating the tatty remains of decals I gave him!

I used the cheapy stem I originally had on the Badlander and gave it a polish up and it turned out pretty good!
Next I turned to the wheels. I was always going to use the wheels my Badlander had rolled on for many years but didn't know what I was going to use them on. I decided to use them on this build and I know they're not correct for the period (1983) but as I said at the beginning, this is a cheap build and as I already had them, I used them!
They were pretty manky but if you've seen my wheel resto thread you'd have seen they turned out pretty well. I got the GT hubs chromed and powdered by Dan and rubbed the Sun Mistral rims down and had Dan powder them too.

I picked up sme tyres off ed209 but when I fitted them I wasn't sure if they suited the colourful wheels. This seems to be echoed by several other people too.
However, when I loose fitted them to the chrome frame, they looked a hundred times better! :daumenhoch: I've got some black with whitewall tyres coming so I'll try those too and see what people think.
I'm still waiting for the bars, seat post and seat to turn up but my Tioga stationary rotor cup turned up yesterday so I could finally start to put the bike together!
This is my favourite part (aside from riding it!) but isn't it frustrating when your nice, shiney chrome frame gets covered in greasy fingerprints! A good polish after it's built I think! ;D

Hopefully it'll be finished within a week once I get the bars, seatpost and seat (I'm expecting to have to do some work on the bars and seat! ;)
The final touch is going to be a set of custom pads from Firebird Steve and from his artwork he sent me; I can't wait! ;D

Giles ;D
-
It definitely has some colours but looking proper 80's :daumenhoch:
-
Wow that looks mad  cracking update mate ,great resto and attention too detail ,deffo 80's colours but you need a red dust cap to finnish :D well done :daumenhoch:
-
Great build ! You're right, a lot of people had some common or garden bike that they added parts to. My cousin had a Puch something or other and that got new parts as and when money was available, ending up very similar to this bike. :)
-
I like that mate. I would buy a set of red KKT's and have one red and one blue, then one blue and one red AME grip to keep the colour theme going
-

I was thinking the same - a miss mash of colours will look ace :4_17_5:

Yeh, funnily enough, looking at the pics I'm thinking the same too! :LolLolLolLol:
This was meant to be a cheap build that used up all the parts I had but I might have to make an exception. :daumenhoch:
The only thing is the green grips I've got go with the decals but you never know how your bike is going to turn out until it's done! ;)
-
Right; time for a small update...
I've changed the dealer decal for another one very kindly supplied by Del which has the original white background as it's easier to read on a chrome frame. :daumenhoch:
The main thing is I got new tyres through the post to see what they look like and to see what people think.

What do people think?
Personally, I think the whitewalls look better on the wheels but the grey tyres go better with the chrome frame, so I'm just as unsure as when I started! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Good choice on the decal change there bro :daumenhoch: Tyres................of the 2 pairs, I would keep the whitewalls on :daumenhoch:
-
AAAGH!i cant decide on the tyres,i like em both!!the whitewalls look more authentic i suppose but im generally not a fan of them!one grey and one whitewall??keep the mish mash theme going?? :-\ :daumenhoch:
-
very funky build :daumenhoch:
i like the white walls but also reckon you should at least try one of each to see what it would look like .
i had a falcon pro back in the 80s paid £25 for it bought it from a punk rocker with a green and pink pointy mohican hair do crazy times :)
-
grey tyres for me :daumenhoch:
-
One of each !
-
Grey for me. :daumenhoch:
-
Grey for me. I have a totally original FP Zeta and I love it. It's the bike I started off riding back in 1983!

Cool! :daumenhoch:
Good to see all this Falcon Pro love!! :smitten:
I must admit I'm surprised about the popularity of the grey tyres. I thought the white walls would've had it for sure!
I think the chrome frame makes a big difference to how the grey tyres look though. ;)

the grey with the chrome is sweet! :daumenhoch:

Decided to try out the red and blue theme throughout!
All the parts are ordered; just got to wait for the rest to arrive. I've got to be patient!! :LolLolLolLol:

Maybe it'll even be ready for the Volksworld show.......... ;)
-
That is looking really great. Im loving the asymmetry thing you have going on..
Personally I prefer the tan wall/white tyres but I have a thing for those tyres so it might just be me..
Nice build..
Paul

Cheers Paul, glad you like how she's coming along! Haven't decided about the tyres yet but I do like the grey on the chrome! :daumenhoch:

My sticker was quite good nick but had a piece missing from the top so and Del made me a new one which looks spot on! :daumenhoch:

The big question is are you going to butcher two chains together to make a dual coloured one!!

Had a little play around with the chain today and tried it with the white-wall and the grey tyre and have decided to go with the grey for now but who knows what'll look best once she's finished! :daumenhoch:

Cracking :coolsmiley:

Hmmmmmm honestly? ???
-
Hmmmmmm honestly? ???
Well, I knew it wouldn't be everyone's cup of tea! :LolLolLolLol:
Would I have done this on a top end resto? No, probably not.
But this is a cheapo (relatively speaking) build that's meant to be fun to build and will put a smile on my face everytime I get it out and ride it. :daumenhoch:
Yes, it might be a bit OTT or tacky but it's a laugh and that's what BMXing's about, isn't it? ;)
I have a feeling this bike's going to get a lot worse before it's finished too! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Hmmmmmm honestly? ???
you miserable toad :LolLolLolLol:
-
do the bike as you like but sticking some gumwall/skinwll black comp III's on it and it will look a 10000% better :daumenhoch:
-
I think I'm going to still be deciding the colours of the tyres long after I've chosen the colours for the rest of the bike! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Got some more bits through tonight.

Got my bars which means I can build the bike now! They're in nice survivor condition which suits the frame perfectly.
I de-rusted them with coke and foil and polished them up with a dash of Peek.
The seller thinks they are GT Pro bars he had on his Rickman Freestyler; any ideas? They're chrome, unstamped and around 28 inches wide.

The right lever was damaged on the top and touched in and I could've left it like that but have decided to restore it.
First, I filed down the damage...
....then I rubbed it down with upto 2500 wet and dry to get a nice mirror finish. I've ordered some VHT anodized red paint to try out.
Ok; even I admit this was too OTT! :LolLolLolLol:
I settled for one in the end...
Just got to wait for the seat to eventually arrive from the Bay and I can get her to riding level, then wait for my pads from Firebird Steve and she's sorted! :daumenhoch:
-
seatclamps is hardcore !! :daumenhoch:
love this bike!!
-
well.. if you are gonna go for it GO FOR IT. I love those ol'grey tyres against the chrome.
You're missing a trick though by not having a different coloured brake block either side :daumenhoch:
or a red brake on the back :)
But... why is it in Old School Freestyle? :police:
-
id be tempted to mix the chain up a bit ! red blue red blue red blue etc etc

No, I haven't missed a trick; the red caliper hasn't turned up yet! :LolLolLolLol:
.....and it's in Old School Freestyle as it's an old school frame and forks made up with old school parts, either used, NOS or repop/repro, in the style of a freestyle bike with my own little twist and it doesn't fit in Mid School, New School or Race! :daumenhoch:
It's never going to conform completely to anything to be honest. If they had a 'Bitsa' class I'm sure it would fit right in! ;)
id be tempted to mix the chain up a bit ! red blue red blue red blue etc etc
I thought about that but my chain tool is such a pain in the butt to use, I couldn't bare thinking about it! :LolLolLolLol:

Fair enough ... ;D
Interesting discussion as to what makes something a freesstyle bike as opposed to a street or race bike?
Inverted front brake? hollow stem bolt? rotor? coaster brake? who knows
-
I see where you're coming from.
If it had been a quality race f+f I'd picked up, then it would be a race bike now. ;)
However, this is more like the bike I'd have had and I'm sure you know you used them for everything and so it should be an all-rounder really.
While I like a good race bike, I'm a freestyler at heart so thought I'd make this into a useable, old school freestyle bike....oh, and I had a load of freestyle parts left over from the Badlander build! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Dude, I would have defo gone with the crazy chain effect too :daumenhoch: I have a chain tool if you want to borrow it :coolsmiley:
Maybe you could also get Sawzall to split the MX clamps and join them both as half and half?? Red/blue?? Worth a shot??
Looking cool though but unsure on the tyre choices :-\ Would maybe look to go with something else in the Panaracer colour range??
-

Cheers Terry,
I'll think about the chain! ;)
I have thought about the seat clamp and reckon it'd look cool but if I split it I don't have a new pin to replace it. :-\ Maybe if Sawzall can do it, he could get a new pin too?
I think the tyres are going to cause the biggest split of opinions here but I'm just trying it out like this. The grey really suits the chrome but if I had those wheels on any other coloured bike, I'd definately put the whitewalls on! 8)
-
Man i love this more every time i see it.Its really turning out the nuts!i think the grey tyre choice is bang on and obviously neutral,i think coloured tyres, especially odd ones would make it all a bit too busy!I'm loving Terry's idea about the seatclamp,if sawsall cant help it may be worth a pm to Steve (ANIMAL) to sort the pin out, shouldn't be too much aggro and will look ace!I also think the chain with alternate links would look the nuts too, time consuming but worth the end result.i think the definition of a freestyle bike should be 'a bike intended for freestyle use' as this clearly is as it has a rotor, potts mod etc.loadsa people used to freestyle on rippers etc bitd :daumenhoch:

I've PM'd Sawzall to see if he can help but I'll give Steve a buzz too, just in case.
I'm stilll thinking about the chain. I might be able to come to some happy medium. The only trouble with doing all of them is my chain tool scratches the links and it would look a right mess. Perhaps if Terry's one's better though....... ;)
Just got a red caliper through today which will be stripped and sanded smooth tonight ready for my VHT anodize paint to arrive tomorrow! :daumenhoch:
Best get off to Sainsbury's to get myself some Oven Pride! ;D
-
This is looking better than i imagined fella. I've always wanted to do a build like this, but having to buy two of everything is way too costly.
Gotta agree with everyone above, get the seatclamp split and repinned half and half. Are you going to do do 50/50 red blue calipers as well or a red front and blue rear
-

The seatclamp is going to get done as soon as I can sought out a new pin.
I'm hopefully re-doing another caliper I stripped down tonight in anodised red tomorrow and it is going to be a 50/50 split. ;)
-
I got another Raleigh caliper from the Bay yesterday in red and I wasn't originally going to touch it but as I was re-doing the lever I thought I may as well kill two birds with one stone!
It looked fairly neat for an old caliper when it first arrived
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/ab312/kungfuracer/Falcon%20Pro%20Aero%20Flyer/Photo0724.jpg)
On closer inspection, there was a gash about 1mm deep which doesn't show up very well in my cr@p pics
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/ab312/kungfuracer/Falcon%20Pro%20Aero%20Flyer/Photo0725.jpg)
I decided to go the Oven Pride route after reading up on here, so took a trip to Sainsburys and picked some up for a bargain £4 and got my bits ready
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/ab312/kungfuracer/Falcon%20Pro%20Aero%20Flyer/Photo0729.jpg)
I put them in a sandwich bag instead of the massive bag provided with the cleaner. I then poured in enough to cover the parts and sealed it up. Within seconds you could see the colour coming off the calipers.
Within a couple of minutes they were stripped.
The lever took longer as it's thicker anodising although within 5 mins that was done too. Note how Oven Pride doesn't shift the paint used to touch in scratches. I'd have to shift that the old fashioned way! :LolLolLolLol:
I then used a small file and nine grades of wet and dry to get everything smooth and relatively shiney. This VHT Anodizing Paint works best on shiney metal rather than a keyed surface.

They look better than the poor camera phone shots taken in the early hours suggest! :LolLolLolLol:
I couldn't get all the marks out as some were just too deep and some of the engraving is so shallow I couldn't rub it down that hard but it's a damn sight better than it was! ;)
Hopefully tonight I'll be able to spray them and see if I can get anywhere near the anodised original finish. :daumenhoch:
-
I'm keen to see the results of this paint! :daumenhoch:
-
Well,
I've sprayed the brakes and I'm REALLY pleased with the results! :smitten:
Unfortunately, the computer's on its way out and now doesn't recognise the USB ports so I can't upload the pics, so will have to wait till Monday to do it at work! :tickedoff:
This paint is the nuts but you have to be careful with it as it has a hair trigger and it's easy to spray too much on.
I'm going to give it a few days to harden, then lacquer it and fingers crossed, it'll be ready to go! :daumenhoch:
If anyone's interested, here's the link to the paint.....
http://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_trksid=p5197.m570.l1313&_nkw=vht+anodized+paint&_sacat=See-All-Categories
-
You might find when you laquer it it goes dull. :daumenhoch:
I would paint something else that is scrap and laquer that first as a precaution.
-
#bugger didnt even think, you already had the red one, i have a pair of blue ones here
-
Right;
I'm at work so i can upload the pics now! ;D
It was hard to make it look good on the pics with my camera phone but it looks really good now. I may have got carried away and done too many coats which has made it look a lot deeper red but I like the look better now. :daumenhoch:
I was pleased with how the first coat went on. It comes out of the can really fast but gives good coverage and doesn't run easily which is the nightmare of any sprayer! :LolLolLolLol:
I was a bit worried that it'd stick to the paper but it turned out fine and doesn't look too far off anodising.
I then did the backs which proved more of a pain as some of the parts stuck to the paper! :tickedoff: (new I should've hung the parts up to spray!)
When the paint is properly hardened I'll coat the parts with something to protect them making sure they don't dull as has already been mentioned, then do the front/rear split!
While I was waiting for paint to dry, I decided to have a bash at the chain. First thing I did was to launch my chain tool across the room and into the bin with one, well aimed throw and go and buy a good one! :LolLolLolLol:
If I'd used my old tool, the chain would've been knackered and with no paint left on it! I'm pleased with it but no matter what people say; I'm not changing it again! :LolLolLolLol:
Thats' it for now. Apart from fitting the red brake parts I'm just waiting for my seat to eventually arrive from the bay and the seat clamps are on their way to Sawzall for their 50/50 split and Firebird Steve's working on the pads and she's done! :daumenhoch:
-
i think your chain is bringing the rest of it down. imho.
-
Fair enough; each to their own.
It was never going to please everyone! :LolLolLolLol:
.....but you can't really take a multi-coloured, freestyle built, Falcon Pro Aero Flyer seriously, can you? :2funny:
-
It's the Louie Spence of Freestyle Bikes :LolLolLolLol:
Fair play though; build it as you like through and through :daumenhoch:
-
i love the chain mint
-
Yep that chain looks miles better :daumenhoch:
-
i love the chain mint
I rest my case :-X

Quick update and a WARNING!
I went to lacquer the brakes with a can of Halfords clear lacquer I had and took discostu's advice to try it on something else first to see if it dulled the finish. :daumenhoch:
Good job I did as the lacquer acted as a rather effective paint stripper!
So I've now taken VHT's advice and bought a can of their clear gloss enamel which should be alright!
Here's the link and as always, I'll let you know the results when I get it. ;)
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/VHT-CLEAR-GLOSS-ENGINE-ENAMEL-PAINT-SP145-/250879796315?pt=UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM&hash=item3a6999e45b

:4_17_5: better just go get my sun glasses :daumenhoch: looks the part bud :daumenhoch:
-
Cheers Darren,
glad you like it! :daumenhoch: ;D
-
Well, the weekends over and here's another update! ;D
I got my can of VHT Gloss Enamel through really quickly which was a bonus as I could crack on straight away with that and have everything dry, ready to be fitted by the end of the weekend. This stuff is great and doesn't dull the finish in the slightest but is a lot trickier to use than the anodising paint as you only need the lightest of coats and the stuff flies out of the nozzle at a milion miles per hour! ;D
I learnt my lesson this time and hung everything up before spraying! These have been sprayed in the pics and look even brighter when they've dried. :daumenhoch:

Was pleased with how the levers and the calipers looked with the calipers being a good match in particular to the anodising.

Spent ages cutting the first brake cable to the right lengths and fitting nice and neatly, then realised I fitted the back brake to the front brake lever and couldn't switch the cable to the other lever as they're colour co-ordinated! :tickedoff:
Sorted it all out after much time and swearing and dialed the brakes in and it's all ready go! :daumenhoch:

I've left the cables a bit long as I want to see how much room I'll have when I fit my crossbar pad, then I'll shorten them accordingly.
The only pain is the stem is so long the hole for the rotor doesn't match up and it puts the cable at a really bad angle. I put a bit of outer cable in the bottom of the hole in the stem to protect it a bit from rubbing but ideally I'd like an ACS stem to make it work properly. Any offers at a reasonable price? ;)
Now it's practically done. All I'm waiting for is my seat to EVENTUALLY arrive from eBay :tickedoff:, my pads from Firebird Steve and my split seat clamp from Sawzall! :daumenhoch:
-
Nice build, always good to see something different :daumenhoch:
Have you thought about putting a red tyre on the blue rim and visa versa?
-

Thanks for the comments; glad you like it! :daumenhoch:
I've thought about colour matching the tyres but that would be the third set of tyres I've bought for it and I haven't even ridden it yet! :LolLolLolLol:
I'll probably keep it like this for now just to save some money but you never know; I might get a pair on standby! ;D :daumenhoch:
-
Looking great mate
-
Got my seat through from eBay, at last! It's only taken a month to travel 150 miles!! :tickedoff:
It's a fake Kashi in used condition but suits the survivor condtion of the frame, forks and bars well and came at the right price.
The guts were immaculate but the rails were a little rusty so I gave them a quick blast with the coke and foil, then polished them and they came up lovely! :daumenhoch:
The back and the top were scatched up. The top was going to prove too hard to rub down without ruining the texture of the seat so I polished it with Back To Black bumper spray and rubbed down the back smooth with 9 grades of wet and dry.

One last finishing touch was a Kashimax sticker on the back. I know it doesn't fit right but it looks a lot better than leaving it blank! ;D
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/ab312/kungfuracer/Falcon%20Pro%20Aero%20Flyer/Photo0815.jpg)
I've managed to buy a stem like this one on my Badlander in used condition which will suit the bike perfectly and will fit the Rotor much better than the stem it has at the moment...
So that's nearly it! Seatclamp's nearly done, then it's renovate and fit new stem and fit new pads when they're ready! Phew, it'll be finished one day!! :LolLolLolLol:
-
looking very nice. good to see a budget build that is show worthy. :smitten: :smitten: :4_17_5:

not sure about the white hubs.........maybe a little bit too much colour ;D ;)
-
Cannot believe that you couldn't find some space for a bit of green on the bike ;)
-
not sure about the white hubs.........maybe a little bit too much colour ;D ;)
Had to get Dan to powder the hub flanges as the alloy was so porous, when I had them rechromed they came out pitted, even after four dips, so I didn't have much option.
That's what started off the red and blue theme as I thought I'd do the wheels red, white and blue in a kind of patriotic way! ;)
From there, I'm afraid, it just escalated! Just like Pringles; once you pop, you just can't stop! :LolLolLolLol:
-

What about the front brake pads? :LolLolLolLol:

its mental..............................but i like it :daumenhoch:
-
Picked up my new ACS stem from America today and although it was in good used condition I decided to give it a quick rub down to get rid of a few scratches and then give it a light polish. I didn't do it perfectly as I still wanted the used look to go with the rest of the bike. :daumenhoch:

Next job........FIT IT!! ;D

Looks lovely Giles,I personally love polished stuff although there are others who are not fans!Nice stem too!i must admit I was expecting to see it on the bike!! :daumenhoch:

Cheers. ;D
I do like things polished up, I must admit. :smitten:
The reason it's not on the bike in the pics is that I only got the stem around 9.30pm that night and by the time I polished it up it was around 1.30am and I had to get up for work at 6am! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Found time to fit the stem when I got back tonight.
The back brake feels so much nicer with the correct angle for the cable going through the stem! :daumenhoch:
I've shortened the front brake cable to the correct length and set them both up and now she's ready to roll! ;D
Wouldn't mind some of those brake braces that Burners had so I can make the brakes a bit more solid though. Any offers? ;)

Well that's it for now. There's a couple of cosmetic things I have in the pipeline but apart from that she's all set up and finally ready to ride after many years of hardship and neglect! :LolLolLolLol:
-
proper freestyle vibe going on there :daumenhoch:
-
Very cool :daumenhoch:
-
Just a couple more things......
I wanted to improve the braking performance as this is going to be a rider and was told ties around the brake caliper and fork leg stops the caliper pulling forwards when you apply the front brake. I ordered some red and blue velcro ties and put them on then replaced the ugly cable tie in the frame for good measure too.

Next I turned my attention to the back brake and got hold of some frame protecters that Raleigh Burners used to have. They were pretty rusty but a few minutes with a wire brush on a rotary tool and they turned out fine!

It's all ready to ride now but I'm waiting for a set of custom designed pads to be made before it's asthetically finished, so in the mean time I thought I'd put a temporary set on to see how it looks with pads. I got a cheap blue stem pad off eBay and an eyelet tool and thought I'd have a go at making my own Skyway inspired Rotor pad!

I'm pleased with the way it turned out but it's a bloody pain having to take all your brake cables out to fit it when you've finally set your brakes up! :LolLolLolLol:
I'm going to get the frame and crossbar pad too and they'll suffice until my custom set arrive, then, hopefully, the nice weather will have returned and I'll be tearing it up down the local park! :daumenhoch:
-
that is sweet as, its going to look good with a ful padset on i reckon :daumenhoch:
How much difference does the velcro make on the front brakes, I've thought of trying it

Cheers :daumenhoch:
Haven't ridden it yet so can't give a definative answer on the velcro but applying the brakes stationary and pushing the bike gives no unwanted movement now which it was doing before hand, so I'd say it'll work fine. The velcro's bloody strong too so no worries with it slipping or tearing! :daumenhoch:
-
Looking ace buddy. Can see a lot of thought and effort has gone in to this and can't wait to see some daylight shots :daumenhoch:
Well done :4_17_5:
**I think you may want to tighten the front adjuster a bit on the caliper as it doesn't look seated right**

I've been loving this thread! Well done for going all out and mixing it right up. What about getting a red & a blue walled tyre and putting them on the opposite wheel? I've had a quick look but I've nolt found a matching pair but I'm sure it isn't impossible. Something like these?

Good spot, Terry! :daumenhoch:
Unfortunately, that's as tight as it goes as the hole is a slightly different shape from the adjuster but once it's all set-up you don't notice any difference. ;)

Wow!
That's a nice set of brakes! :smitten:
Great taste in colours! :daumenhoch:
-
I always like experimenting with things so I thought I'd try and put some graphics on the pads. ;)
Now, the only pad that's arrived so far if the stem pad so that'll be the first one. :daumenhoch:
I've knocked up a couple of t-shirts for mates in the past and had some of that paper left over that you print your design onto, then iron it onto your item of clothing. I knocked up a quick design at work then printed it on the paper.
I must stress, these aren't meant to be really great designs; my pads I'm having done have the really good design on. These are just to pass the time! :LolLolLolLol:
It all went smoothly and ironed on fine, unfortunately the blue pad isn't the best colour to put these iron-on prints onto and it didn't show up that well. :( It's meant to be a red design with yellow outline on a blue background but it looks more muddy! ;D Never mind, they were only meant to be temporary anyway. Maybe it'll look better in the light of day?
The frame and handlebar pad are red so maybe the blue design I have for them will be clearer? Anyway, here's some pics so you know what NOT to do! :LolLolLolLol:
It was hard to get a picture without the flash shining off the pad too much. It looks a bit grainy in the pics but that's just the photo. The colour is solid but just doesn't stand out that well. A white pad would've been fine (but wouldn't have suited my colour co-ordinating!).

It was worth a giggle but I think I'll leave it to the pro's in the future! :daumenhoch:

Try here for a set of custom pads: http://www.esemdesign.co.uk/#/custom-pads/4540130883 (http://www.esemdesign.co.uk/#/custom-pads/4540130883)
Firebird on here does them. It might be worth giving him a shout to see what he can do?

Cheers mate, :daumenhoch:
Steve (Firebird) is the one who's making my 'proper' pads and believe me, his design's a LOT better than mine! :LolLolLolLol:

Got some more pads off motomagII which arrived yesterday. :)
I know I've got a custom set coming and a set of red ones to go with my blue stem pad but these are geuine NOS Falcon Pro and probably worth a squillion quid, so I had to have 'em! :LolLolLolLol:
I just chucked them on the bike to see what it looks like with pads and I think it's definately the way to go. Now I'll just have to wait for my others to arrive and I'm sorted!
Looks like I'll have to get another Falcon Pro to put these ones on!! :LolLolLolLol:

Another day, another delivery! :LolLolLolLol:
More pads, although this time in red. I bought these from eBay to go with the blue stem pad but then realised they were too small! :-[
I then had to order more red pads in a bigger size which I'm still waiting for, so I chucked these on to see how the colour combo works out! :daumenhoch:
So with this set, the bigger red ones and the custom ones to come, that's four sets for one bike! Still, gives me an excuse to build more bikes to put them on! ;) ;D

Got my THIRD set of pads through for this bike today from Pork Chop! ;D
They're red like the last lot I put on and I hoped they would go well with the blue stem pad. Good thing is, they are a lot bigger than the previous ones I bought.
I had the graphics all ready done to iron onto the pads, so got cracking! :daumenhoch:
It didn't come out too badly but is certainly no professional job. The lettering was supposed to be blue but looks black. >:(
Still; could be worse! :LolLolLolLol:
I'm going to keep it like this until I get my professionally made set as I really can't think of anything else to colour-code now! :2funny:

I'm picking up a falcon on Saturday and that has a red pad set on it... I'm going for a blue/chrome combo so I might not need it if you are interested. I need to check the condition of it first, let me know .
-
Respect for choosing such a cool bike to get! :daumenhoch:
Thanks for the offer bud but I've got a custom set on order with Firebird Steve which will be my fourth set and I think I have enough pads for it for now! :LolLolLolLol:
Giles ;)
-
No worries bud, already have a freestyler and now I'm getting a pro beta 24, have a good one.
-
Finally; we've had some nice weather and I managed to get some outdoor pics for the first time in the morning before I went to Thorpe Park! :daumenhoch:
Had a little play on her too and she rides like a dream, although I haven't tried the brakes yet as I can't bring myself to ruin the painted rims! :LolLolLolLol:
I haven't got my proper padset yet but with the nice weather coming, I've just got to get out on her. :smitten:

Yeh; I bet their first question after 'What is it?' is 'Why isn't it black?' :LolLolLolLol:

Nice one Giles :4_17_5: job on restoring that buddy. But why is it not all black?? :LolLolLolLol:
Where's that park buddy?? Is that the one down in Chessington??

Cheers Terry! :daumenhoch:
This is the park just around the corner from Chessington, near Horton Country Park. It's off Hook Road, about half way down, if you're travelling from Chessington to Epsom. I always go down on Fridays when the kids are at school (don't want to show them up with my old-school skills! :LolLolLolLol:)
-
awesome, loving it more and more

I'll get some action shots next time I can drag the missus down! ;)

Cool fella, its still quite odd seeing what i wanted to build being done by someone else, BUT its also great as its saved me a shlt load of cash building one myself!!
-
Very nice. :smitten:
So how much did the budget build cost? :)
-

Err, I stopped counting at £600 which I must admit is not really budget but is a lot cheaper than the Badlander cost. Everything's budget when put into perspective! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Whoops! :LolLolLolLol:
-
Finally; here's photographic proof you can use a Falcon Pro Aero Flyer as a freestyle bike! :LolLolLolLol:
The front brake's not good enough yet to do tricks because of the painted rim but the rear was up to the job; no doubt aided by the brilliant performance of an ACS Rotor! :daumenhoch:
Would've got more pics but was interupted by members of the 'travelling community' trying to sell me cheap lap tops........... :police:

Well, she hasn't broken yet, feels light as a feather on the move and is so much more fun to ride than my new school bike! :daumenhoch:
Just got to wait for these brakes to wear in, then it's old school freestyle action all the way! 8)

Nice bike :daumenhoch: are you Steve Coogan? ???

Sick skills Giles!the missus doesn't look too impressed though!!! :daumenhoch:

Met with Giles on Thursday and have to say, after having a bang on this bike, it's lighter than I thought it be, the geometry is good for a 'budget' frame set and it looks pretty sick! Nice one Giles and a great job, I love it :4_17_5:

look s dope in the daylight !!! :4_17_5:
