Right ordered some counter sunk bolts for the fly caliper
will skim down the barrel tabs as it will make the caliper sit flush and tighten up proper
got a odyssey cable - no wait they sent me a united one and some stickers hoping that i would mind that they hadn't let me know they didn't have the right thing and that they thought sending me any old crap with some free stickers would do ::) - well it did, as i haven't sent it back (stiff outer cable ?)
brake lever has been sorted and painted by OBB - top work
so now i just need one thing or to buy a new piece
the cable to the caliper ends and the other cable end - cable hanger ? - i have the original one but need a knarp is it ( wire has one end and it sits on the other end in the caliper end )
another thing i saw was the fly hanger - i take it the cable moves through one side and can be shortened pulling it though to right size - then cut and fixed ?

They are both pretty similar. But I would stress they are both long so won't fit all frames unless there is room. The first one is shortened by the knarps. To be honest this looks cack as you could really only leave the knarps in one place. Level with the ball mount. Or the centre pull will be offset!
The other one looks like you twist that barrell on the cable which shortens it. Again this will only have so much pull before the centre becomes offset. The best option is to go for a seperate arched hanger pulling clamp. With a piece of short cable from one arm through the arch and then secured in the other arm with a knarps. If you want it shorter you just pull the cable through the arched hanger a bit more and then tighten up the knarps. The arch hanger centre pull always stays in the centre and the cable can be as long or short as you want. Those others will only work ok at pretty much one length. Which is ok if you know it will fit your frame. I wouldn't buy one only to find out its useless! :daumenhoch:

Why buy countersunk bolts you could just use washers like i did?

betty - cos i'm a complete whore ;D i guess it's like the OS stuff ~ i want it to look a certain way ;) - if there right, i will have some spare for you if you want -FOC for the return of info you have given ;)
stu - what you say makes sence - i did wonder if the cable slides through and you just cut off the excess and knarp up the end
so how are yours looking like they have both welded ends and not a knarp ?
any one with a spare knarp ? in black
any better working hangers ?

Oddy knarps and hangers are available from winstanleys. Or get a proper hanger. They do 2 types and one is in blue to match your frame. ;)

Do a wanted ad for an oddy Evo 2 u brake cable knarp in the wanted section. You get a couple in every brake kit. I used my spare one on my 92. I would imagine someone will have one spare kicking around in there bits box. :daumenhoch:

Found a knarp from an oddy evo 2 brake and it's bigger than the fly brake knarps... :-\

Order a standard oddy knarps then bendy. They are smaller. Just ask them if it will fit your brake first. :daumenhoch:

As i couldn't find one, i looked in a couple of my work places and found a brass one !
the claw is 8mm and the knarp need to be around 7mm and to move - the height was also blocking the wire coming out at the right angle
so i shaved off the bottom by 3mm so the wire would not snag on the claw
The next part was the hardest as it was all done by hand - i had to shave/file down the width ~ started with 9mm and got it down to 7mm ~ taking off 2mm was not easy and my poor finger are hurty :-[ but i got there in the end and really should have used a clamp to hold it all and work better, but you know what it's like when you think it's going to be a five minute job ;D
so hopefully it's strong enough and will hold ;) ???

I have a strange feeling you might get a flat tire on the london ride ;D
right i need to know which way around the springs go and which side / to each caliper they go - any ideas ?

no idea, but if you're not sure just put one side on and see if the spring works properly, if not swith the springs :daumenhoch:

betty put a pic of his one up in my other brake thread and it seem to look a cetain way and other pic's of them se to have the caps in a certain way - so i think i might have it
just don't want to go brake-less in london :shocked:
