Just done a blind deal on a KHE Maceto ST, I've taken a gamble as I have only seen a couple of pictures :10_2_12:
anyone rode or have any feedback on the KHE bikes, missed out on several wethepeople and fit bike co, and bought this one in frustration :LolLolLolLol: I need a new school ride :smitten:
-
Don't look a bad ride (just checked out the 2012 model) not sure on what year your one is but full cromo f+f with sealed bearings all round is a great place to start.
what did you pay if you don't mind me asking?
-
It looks like the 2011 model Baby blue colour, its got no decals and a few chips/scratches, wethepeople bars, salt rear rim, clear plastic pedals, the rest is stock as far as i can make out, NO BRAKES!! :10_2_12:
got it for £110
-
cool! good price for something you just have to sling a brake on and ride :daumenhoch:
-
south shields ?
-
yea, is it yours? :LolLolLolLol:
-
nope lol but spotted it the other day and im sure ive a giant mtb jump bike off them that was mint condition and the khe seems same way 8)
-
Cool, the seller was a nice enough person, I hounded them all day for info, i would have told myself to f@@k off :LolLolLolLol:
Looking forward to getting it and giving it a ride :daumenhoch:
-
If yours is anything like my KHE Zenith LT then its going to weigh less than a nats Bollocks and ride like a dream.

-
Thats very nice Jaymz,
the specs say just over 11kg, The Zenith is a tad over 10k so mine will be a smidge heavier!! But tbh after riding old/mid school, any thing will be light in comparison

KHE's make 90% of new school bikes feel heavy, only a handful of highend race bikes are lighter, some find them too light to ride and the front end likes to be up in the air a lot, cant wait to see some pics of your ride. I do love german engineering, I have 2 Dragonflys as well and they are beautifully fabricated frames
-
Oh your getting me all excited now jaymz :LolLolLolLol: Hopefully it will land Tuesday, so pictures to follow :daumenhoch:

Haha, they are indeed lush, mine has a great bar/stem combo to keep weight down its called the anchor bar, when i first saw it iwas like WTF! thats gonna break first time i land badly [which is 90% of the time] but its done its time with me and proved to be aswesome
-
That Anchor combo looks mental one piece stem/bars? :uglystupid2: Nothing so luxurious on mine, i'll have to make do with the front loading stem and seperate bars :LolLolLolLol:

Loving the action shot :daumenhoch: that is a lush bike ^"^ whats the rear brake set up on yours? I need to start looking for something any suggestions?
-
Its an Xposure lever in blue and an F-Set caliper, unknown cable
here's the caliper, I should have the matching lever, but it was changed before i got it, F-Set are used on most new complete KHE's

I like a nice indoor wooden park, but only ever been to one once :( there isnt one for miles :( we just have the track, some trails and a skatepark with a finish like glass [see avatar pic]
-
I mainly ride street, I use my BMX daily to get to work so just ride what ever i can find!! There is a very small skate park along the route, which i've not had a go on yet but will with the new ride :smitten:
-
The New school ride landed today, off to ride it home, feedback to come later :smitten:

very nice, lush colour, looks like its fot its original cranks too, most secondhand KHE's get robbed of their cranks
-
Guess i wont be riding it home today, i've just broke the star nut in the forks, now cant get the stem off or tighten!!!! HELP!!
It's all original spec Jaymz apart from the Bars, pedals and rear wheel :smitten:

you can get round that. the star nut is only really used to push the stem down onto the forks, then the two bolts on the back of the stem secure it.
You could put the stem on and tap it down gently to tighten the headset up then tighten the rear bolts, ride home gently, Ive ridden bikes with NO star nut in before as a temp measure
-
Well like a div I didn't put the locking clamp on before fitting the stem so now can't undo the forks to get the stem off to re fit...
Sorted all taken out ready to add new Star nut, I think i'll play safe and ride the Haro home, pick up a new star nut tomorrow, then ride the f@@ker :LolLolLolLol:
-
looks tidy that :daumenhoch: bung a brake on lower the stem down the forks sorted :daumenhoch:

Cheers :daumenhoch: I need to mess about a bit with the set up, get it right for me, the seat is up a tad from the pic, trying to resist jacking it up to high :LolLolLolLol:
-
Got some goodies in the post this morning. That's the rear brake set up sorted ;) SALT AM u brake, Vocal linear cable and Used Xposure blue levers.
Just waiting for a new intergrated headset to arrive and a nice little package from the very helpful guys at KHE.
Some up dated picture will follow.
-
I'm running one of those levers on my KHE, they work very well and nice to use
-
Seem like nice levers Jaymz, I would test them out, but, the SALT u brake i bought is broken!!! So I got to send the POS back, I wanted to go out for a ride tomorrow :tickedoff:
Might just rob a Tektro off my GT for now, as everything else is set up ;)
-
invest in an oddy evo or a proper fella
-
Osssh they are pricy, best I get saving some pennies :LolLolLolLol: I bought bikes for less :D

Looks like they are hard to get hold of, looked online but most places in the UK are no longer stocking the F Set. I have found them state side but wont import stuff as the Tax is a pain!!
What can you recommend for around £20 Jaymz or anyone else? I can get the Dia comp 990 for around £10 are these any good??
-
Get an evo
-
990's always good seen on the net for under £10 , using a Superstar one at the mo, nice n simple, low profile also has roller bearings instead of bushes so it works real smooth round about £30 ish :daumenhoch:
-
You could try the Xposure matching caliper or one made by blank if you are trying not to break the bank
Xposure U brakes (http://www.google.co.uk/search?q=Xposure+brake&ie=utf-8&oe=utf-8&aq=t&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a#q=Xposure+brake&hl=en&client=firefox-a&hs=UTm&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&prmd=imvns&source=univ&tbm=shop&tbo=u&sa=X&ei=JP1uT8blM5Cx8QOAzdi_DQ&ved=0CEAQrQQ&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.r_qf.,cf.osb&fp=90a248b4e21803e3&biw=1646&bih=839)

I was looking at the matching Xposure ones, wasn't sure if they were any good. I might get one of those to keep in with the colour scheme. Although I know Dia comp is a reliable make.
I can't warrent spending £40+ on an EVO brake, as the bike was only £110 :LolLolLolLol:

the
xposures work. You aren't going to be stopping on a penny but they work. It's all in the set up and the pads. Xposure bachelor pads are great stopping tools.
-
I ended up robbing a tektro off my Haro for now, untill I get another brake for this one, couldn't wait anymore :LolLolLolLol: Took it to the skate park this morning!! Wow light as anything and nice on the ramps. My bunny hops are almost twice as high on this and I managed a fakie on the 1/4 pipe, just need to nail the roll out :LolLolLolLol:
-
Got what I was waiting for, Decals sorted, although these are for a pro, I can live with it :LolLolLolLol:

I've always loved stickers, my KHE is plastered in them, my freestyler has a few extras on it
I'm actually contemplating rawing my S&M and buying a couple of those 100 packs of black and white S&M shields and sticker bombing the front half of the bike

I've just ordered a tan wall for the front, I like my tyres in pairs lol
-
:daumenhoch:
-
I've gone for an Xposure Dave tanwall 20x2.0 which will go on the rear, then swap the odyssey tanwall to the front as it's 2.125 and more aggressive tread
-
Got to ride this morning :4_17_5: The sun is shining so making the most of it :smitten:
A few updated pics of how the KHE is looking now...
Xposure lever,
Xposure u brake, Clear bachalor pads,
Xposure Dave tanwall rear tyre 20x2.0
Odyssey Aitkin tanwall front 20x2.125
Black 1/2 link chain,
Gusset palstic pedals,
Odi stay strong grips.
And some new stickers here and there.. :)
