made from butted reynolds and t45 tube
he is also going to be doing a cruiser, here's a couple of pics of the proto-types :daumenhoch:

Very nice :smitten:
If its built by Curtis, should be spot on :Great_Britain:

Made in Great Britain. :Great_Britain: :Great_Britain: :Great_Britain:
Looks awesome, that brazing looks real quality stuff as to be expected. I'm not keen on the forks that design has been and gone with GT. Hopefully we will see some real factory looking paint jobs and a team perhaps?

Spoilt for choice on new school frames now, will the vincent be new school or old school tech?
-
You'd leave them buggers raw............................................. that brazing :smitten:
-
Like the look of it but the rear dropouts dont look too strong with all the cutouts and those forks would be weak with all those joints :P
It is a prototype though :daumenhoch:
Would look well cool chromed with the old MRD decals on which would still look cool today as they were a bit fuuristic :daumenhoch:
-
I'm guessing are these the photos of the cruiser prototype..?
-
Jesus. That is ace :4_17_5:

Frame is ok, not getting the juices flowing, just ok. Those forks look fook awful though.
-
Think he may be better doing frame only on these, forks are a bit Marmite.
Most racers have a prefered fork anyway, some use carbon, others steel forks such as S&M,Oddy, etc, might be stuck with a few unwanted f+f sets because of it :-\
-
I really like it :daumenhoch:
-
any idea of when these are gona come available , prices and numbers ?
-
Nice :daumenhoch: If they turn out a freestyler any time soon Vincents may miss out on a sale ;)
To be honest Clint i'm with you on this as i'd be having one for sure , fingers cross they do :daumenhoch:

Stiffen that back end up, the chain stay looks like a rubber band.

Lovely workmanship & a 24 sounds cool ;)

The frame is just at the prototype stage, i'm going to make some more changes... the comment about who i'm going to copy this time mead me laugh.. I wont be making forks and agree with the marmite comments. funny thing though as MRD was always a marmite brand.. The other bike in the picture is a 26 inch Tracker that Brian is making for me. I'm only making a LTD number of those and they are not under the MRD banner, they will be under the name Tubal Cain.... as for an MRD freestyler are you lot serious? a Brazed street/park Bike? maybe! If there was some genuine interest. All of these MRDs will not be off a production line. they will be handmade by Brian and Myself.. To order-total custom. To all you lunatic collectors out there i've just found some original pro plates.... Will put them on ebay when i get a mo.. As for stickers for frames........I think i just bought some originals (they could be bootlegs but i dont think so) so i'll get some made for those of you who send me pics with frame numbers..
Also, beefing up the back end comment? I'm not sure super rigid alloy frames are the best for racing, they are the cheapest and lightest, and that is why for the most part they appeal.... But i'm not about to follow trends just for the sake of it... The MRDS will as always be made in the UK, using UK made tubing and brass brazing. Brian taught everyone at Rickmans to braze and that's why he's the only man to do the MRDs for me.. I had talked to Steve Gaells dad John as he was at Rickmans but he told me straight.. Brian taught all of us everything we know.. So Brian it was.
As for having a team, i think anyone who rides an MRD is already on the team... I'd like to think that MRD is still in the exact same position as it was when US BMX invaded the UK all those years ago. We were the the underdogs then and we are now, rebel FM is coming back on pirate radio..
Thanks to all of you who have kept the candle lit, this time i'll try to stay for longer.
-
Pm will be with you later Tim (I assume!) with serial numbers and pictures ;-)
As for a braised park bike, there are a few of us who still give their 80's Badlanders a healthy amount of grief every other weekend and when ever we can, so you'd be suprised how tough they are!..
Cheers
Spen
-
I'll 2nd Spen's comment about how tough they are.
I've owned my Badlander from new and it's had to do everything from dirt to ramp/park to street as hard as I could ride and is still in as good a shape as when I bought it! :daumenhoch:
-
Just found a March Racing Decals Pack in me cupboard. :D

I'll put some contact details up soon as well as a new site..I'll answer all PMs as quick as i can. Thanks for all your kind words. Has been such a surprise.. javascript:void(0);
-
How many nods would it take to get a small run of freestyles up and running Tim?
I have my mind set to buy just one quality British frame and word from Vincents is scarce :-\
-
Also, beefing up the back end comment? I'm not sure super rigid alloy frames are the best for racing, they are the cheapest and lightest, and that is why for the most part they appeal.... But i'm not about to follow trends just for the sake of it...
It's a steel frame, it's never going to be super stiff... but something with a bit less deflection in the bottom bracket area would be interesting. As for cheapest alloy frames, yes there are a few kicking about, but you can't compare a hand made Curtis to a made in Taiwan Haro or SE, one of the Yess products or a Pure maybe closer in price and quality at £400+ and also handmade.
What's the geometry and spec at the moment, will it be on par with my 125r?
Good luck with the project and keep us updated.

Looks really nice Tim :daumenhoch:

Rather than do off the peg stuff we did last time i'll be making them on an order by order basis so top tubes and B/B heights can be altered to suit.. In keeping with the original MRDs they will be all reynolds tubing unless someone requests T45 (made in england) and 75º head angles... a cruiser is definitely coming too.. minis as well... New graphics will be on all new bikes and the old graphics and bits and bobs will be available for those who have bikes from the eighties...
Cheers,, feels funny to be back doing MRD especially as i said i'd never do it and over my dead body, but i'm still here typing this so something must be going on.. here we go..
-

That's my Freestyler ordered then Tim as discussed earlier - nice quick steep head angle, 20" TT, nice and low BB, integral headset & BB, AD lugs, 14mm drop-outs and a short back end please in chrome :daumenhoch: :LolLolLolLol:
Oh, and put a pre-bent tube or some other Bandasslander-esq nod in and I'm having a spare made too :2funny:
Good to talk to you earlier on the PM and will be great to see what you get up to :coolsmiley:
