Finally got my bloody chrome TA! But some dumb twat has applied XL decals & its standard so have removed them but its left a load of glue.
Ive tried hot soapy water & glass cleaner but it hasn't had any affect.
So what's the best course of action without leaving shit loads of surface scratches from rubbing...?
-
lighter fuel (not gas) ;D, but the petrol stuff works like a treat :daumenhoch:
-
Spray WD40 over them and leave for 5 or so minutes.....then rub with a soft cloth or old T shirt :daumenhoch:
-
Brake cleaner works ace and no danger of marking the chrome ;)
Nail varnish remover off the mrs will work also on a soft rag or tar and glue remover from Halfords or any cap product place like asda even
-
i've used UVPC window cleaner as well :daumenhoch:
-
I use isopropanol (can get it off ebay) about 3 quid for 250ml
whatever you have left over can be served with tonic water, ice and lemon for a refreshing summer tipple :daumenhoch:
-
Thanks guys...ill try them all...!!!
In the house i have bike spray (TF 2 & Muc Off) also de-greaser...any of them do it...?
-
No they are both a degreaser based product i believe mate.
Griff your insides must be mush :2funny:
-
I found some Motorex brake cleaner & its done fook all! The glue residue has a high viscocity...its pissing me off!
So whats the quickest & most effective solution...?
-
petrol on a rag :daumenhoch:
-
Meths ;) If u get pissed off just drink it :daumenhoch:
-
Petrol and a soft rag :)
-
urine then rub it on frame with your hand
-
Tardis is another good one to try.
-
WD40 or if that don't work get some nail polish remover.I've been nicking it off my girlfriend & mum for years & it's great for sticker glue removal but obviously don't use it on painted parts.
-
Get some of this stuff...

Works a treat... :daumenhoch:
-
heat it up a bit to soften the glue with a hairdryer then a bit of white spirit
-
Yeah Ive acquired a hairdryer now so will try that... :)

Is this stuff ok to use on chrome Mike?
urine then rub it on frame with your hand
:LolLolLolLol: Best solution so far!!! Although I would lick it...& use someone elses piss...! :D
-
i'd go for meths, this removes all residue from painted surfaces. i use this on my cars to remove left over glue from manufacturers badges which are on the boot lip

Yeah Rich, try the wd40 1st if not then the nail polish remover.i've had no problems on chrome so far & the stuff around now isn't as strong as the old stuff.just dab it on a cloth & rub a bit at a time & it should come off.it moves it down to one area then you can roll it off w/your fingers like sticky bogeys. :LolLolLolLol:

So many options...!!! :D
As a kid I used to have a rumage up my nose whilst in bed, roll it between my thumb & as it was dark I would flick it until I heard it hit the floor!! ;D

So what do you do with them now?Eat them i suppose going by your reply to the piss method! :LolLolLolLol:

i think white spirit is different from meths, i will say i've never used it on chrome but try a bit on a rag on somewhere on the frame that you can't see. on painted surfaces it removes the glue mega easy and what meths is left evaporates on the paint
-
I use Label remover that i remove from work ;)
