Title: Tyre recommendations for dry trails & some ramps. Newbie oldie.
Post by: Hellcat on March 30, 2012, 04:26 PM
Right.

I've got a Freeagent Hellcat which I bought new 4 years ago, only about 20 years since I last rode a BMX as a teenager. Only rode it a few times, had a bad crash missing a hop up a high curb ("Shame!" I know), blew the back tyre & catapulted me.

I was getting into Thai Boxing at the time, and that was giving me enough injuries, so 4 years later, after having to reluctantly quit Thai cos of work commitments I'm gonna get back on the bike. Apart from being a bit heavy, I think it's a pretty nice bike, certainly better than the bikes I had as a kid.

It's factory fitted with massive 2.25 (I think) knobblies. In the olden days it was always 1.5s for me on ramps.

I'm looking for tyres that can do dry slag heap type trails & parks. But more trails to start, as it's just down the road from me. :smitten:

Any recommendations gratefully accepted.

Cheers.

I'm no expert fella, but I ride a 2.25 dirt tyre up front and 2.1 path tyre with less aggressive tread on rear for both dirt & ramps.seems to work fine  :)
People run all sorts of different combinations.it just depends what suits you  :)
