Sexy and they know it!!
http://www.cyclopark.com/about/interactive-map.aspx (http://www.cyclopark.com/about/interactive-map.aspx)
Its got frickin everything:
Monster skatepark (http://vimeo.com/31342033 (http://vimeo.com/31342033))
340m Race track with pump track for begginners
6km mountain bike trails (for the gaylords)
Plus a truck load of other sports stuff like 3km tarmac track for race bikes, family play areas etc etc..
Looks dirt cheap aswell; spoke to them today and will probably only be a few pounds to get in. They are not sure if the entrance fee will give access to everything but currently they think that will be the case.
Opens to public: 27th May
Also good news is that it is likely to open from 7am so people like me can turn up early before the kids get up.
..very exciting for us SE London/Kent cats..
btw, you can attend now with private groups of 20 but you your own insurance and first aider!!

She will prefer Bluewater; a lot nicer (if you are into homogenised shopping) and its on the right side of the river/only a few miles away from the tracks..
But yeah, it would work out well if you can combine the two..

Saw the skatepark last year, It was finished and surrounded by fencing :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff: :tickedoff:
Hopefully it will be as good as it looks, But the place is wrapped up in red tape I think.

Good idea.. We could/should do it now as they can do private bookings today but you need your own insurance and a first aider :idiot2: If anyone knows how to organise that and more importantly, can be arsed, we could give it a go..! I expect once it opens it will be very difficult to get a private booking. Saying this, it will be dead simple to meet up there at say 10am on a Sat or Sun which will give a couple of hours in relative peace..
Wooh!!

TBH some of us have been talking about a meet here since we first heard it was going to happen about three years ago. Been a long wait ::)
-
This place looks mental! :coolsmiley:
Not far for me either! ;)
Definately be up for a RAD meet there! :daumenhoch:
Giles ;D
-
I can remember talk of this place opening when I used to drive down to Hersden to race and that must be over 3 years ago.
Looks like it is going to be worth the wait. I could take my mountain bike and my cruiser and have a full days riding
-
One of the first meetings there was a weekend BMX national,
popped along both days, rude not too, as its only a mile away
catch up with some mates
The BMX track is a monster
A fair few fallers on the Saturday
Race day went smoother I think
-
Was looking forward to this, but from that video the park looks rubbish, bowls look about 4 foot deep, and surely bricks are meant for the streets, not a bloody skatepark :(

We should defo do something soon. I fancy an early start, say 10am. This way we avoid the scooters. I can make any day but Im guessing most people will want sat/sun??
After a few people have given their preferences, ill stick a post up in the Events forum..

What? The skatepark is only for use by racers?
You couldn't make it up.....
-
I'd give them a call before you go. I think you need to be a member of a club and are only able to use the track with your clubs registered coach in tow. :-\

It was only today while the regional was on. To be honest the park wasn't rideable it rained and was like an ice rink. It started to dry out and the kids were coming off the track into the park and covering it in mud. I'd like to go back when it's dry and have a ride, It's only 40 mins away.

According to the website anyone can use the skate park http://www.cyclopark.com/about/interactive-map.aspx
Anyone can use the bmx freeride/pump track , but to go on the 340M track you have to have a induction ???

Cool. So, any weekday? Anytime after 12:00?
We could aim for a 1pm meetup so that will give us a few hours before the schools close.
So, hands up if you can also make midweek afternoons?

Ah, okay. Sorry to hear this. We will keep the 19th going as there are now a few people who are turning up but, we can try another date after 26th that you can hopefully make (especially if the place is good!!).

Hi, I live in Gravesend but not been there yet. a friend of mine is coaching bmx racing there aswell
all the prices are up on the website but its a bit of a wierd structure to say the least, and not a single entry fee
you can pay to use the skate park all day it has peak (w/e eves) and off peak (while kids are at school) prices, only a couple of quid
if you want to mountain bike or road circuit ride, you have to pay something like £3.50 for a two hour session
you also have to pay to park for the day, so if i wanted to take my car, with my bmx, mtb and road bike for the day it would end up costing a bit more than they could reasonably charge for all day access.
I also wonder how they will know when you've been riding the circuit for 2 hours???
click on the interactive map and it shows the session prices http://www.cyclopark.com/about/interactive-map.aspx
-
Hi GavPrimo
Yeah, the prices do seem a little on the random side.. I talked to the door people for a good 10 mins and they told me the skatepark was £1:50 off peak, £2:00 peak, for 2 hours. Saying this, Im not sure how they will police the 2 hour limit as each zone gets its own colour wrist band with the exit time written in pen on the band. So, unless someone asks to look at the band, they will not know how long you have been there...
Car parking was free btw.
I still think it is a fantastic facility and will defo be trying to make regular use of it..
