Morning
Do all o/s forks have the same internal diameter? Likewise, do all o/s stems have the same outside diameter? I have a stem that wont go into my forks. Its close enough where I could get it in with a mallet but I dont then fancy my chances of getting it out again!

No, at some point they started changing stems from 21.1mm to 22.2mm. I tried a 22.2mm stem into Falcon Pro forks and they really wouldn't fit.

Like Jon just said. I had this issue recently with the mini have for sale. Had 5 stems kicking around and none fitted. Had to fins another one.

yeah you re trying to do 22.2 into 21.1 !!! bastard innit !! you got an angle grinder and sanding/grinding disks ? you still may struggle them stem bars are made out of tough stuff!! never tried myself but have filed down forks to get race crowns on ! :daumenhoch:

Hi - its my "Torker" 6 bolt stem:

Going into some RedLine forks.
btw, I have fixed it!! Laying the stem on a flat surface I could see that someone has cut the stem down and it needed a bit of an angel grind. Removing a tiny amount (well below the visible line) and it now goes in nice and easy, with just the expected amount of resistance.
thanks all - I was supper miffed when I tried to assemble this last night and could not get it in..

The 22.2mm could well be a late OS/mid type thing. I never had trouble with stems BitD.

I measured mine at once I realised it was defo 21.1 I knew it was going to go into the stem. This is why I then looked at it again and saw the slight area that needed grinding.

22.2 was old skool quill stem size for townie/racing bikes !

Looks spot on. Ok. It's not got the machining lines like torker but you can hardly tell at all, looks better than the red. I need one of those decals for mine, where you get it?
