Title: 86 Street Beat Top Tube
Post by: punkrockhammer on April 16, 2012, 08:36 AM
Need some Dia Compe cable clips for my Street Beat but I'm not at home and forgot to measure the top tube

Anyone know the size as there are two or three sizes?

Cheers

a street beat top tube is not round shaped and has a ridge on top all the way down the middle so i wouldn't of thought diacompe clips would work very well.

Not tried though to be honest but just not sure they would fit?  ???

As Mr B says dont think they're compatible...

Just use tape the same colour as the frame....

I did wonder about the fit, tbh

Ok, that's decided, then. I'll get some cable ties ;)

you can also dye the clear/white cable ties to match the other parts on the bike - this way you don't have to used the new solid colours that can some times look out of place, or look too NS style  ;)

Was it a 31.8  i know a lot of osbmx are 28.6 and the earlier ones are the smaller size?

I know the TA takes the 31.8  size and has to be manipulated into shape a little to fit the teardrop.
Not sure if the streetbeat tt is the same thickness as a TA or if it is you could manipulate the clip enough without snapping it?

I tried a few on my pair of beats and none i got fit nicely so i used colour matching vercro straps as the cable ties dig into the paint when fastened tight. Also iv slashed the inside of my thigh on the end where i cut the excess cable tie off  :LolLolLolLol:
