Title: Skyway replacement hubs
Post by: robert paine1 on April 28, 2012, 05:59 PM
Anyone know why these say Graphite on them?

Just seems strange to me all the other sets say Skyway..  :D

They are standard Skyway alloy replacement hubs mate, have no explanation as to why they have graphite engraved into the flange, graphite tuff hubs were gold in colour & made by Campagnolo, hope this helps :daumenhoch:

They would have been intended for gen2 alloy hubbed graphites.
The hubs on the gen2's are the same as the normal alloy hubbed wheels but they were stamped graphite instead of skyway then sent off to be annodised gold.
The new issue alloy hubbed have these hubs on the rear and a skyway stamped one on the front.

Campagnola made the gen 1 hubs.

They put them on the rear of the new issues as another way to easily distinguish them from the 80's release.
I think also numbers of the skyway stamped ones left over was considered in the equation too though.

There's another thread on here with a pic of the re issue somewhere.
I also think there's an explanation about them using these left over hubs on the coloured tuffs site or FB page some where if I remember rightly . :)
