Title: Old school items....
Post by: Gnarlyscoots on May 04, 2012, 09:36 PM
Right guys, here's the score. I am looking for all your advice on this one as basically I just don't have the man hours to go trapesing around the net anymore due to 2 little madames giving me the run around  :crazy2:  ;D

With the near complete sale of my Haro, paypal credits are available for a 'unique', not often seen build coming along for my final jigsaw piece (as long as it comes off) and I need some 'unique' items for it.

I would like to know from you guys what parts were available between 1st Jan 1982 - 31st Dec 1984. I know the usual stuff like MX1000's, MX900's Tech 3's and the like but I am after things like, Elina UL chequered laybacks, SR stamed seat posts, you know the things, things that were not the norm.....

Hope you get my drift and can come up with some great items for my inspiration.

Not the norm Terry because no cooont wanted em  :crazy2:  :LolLolLolLol:

Just because they wern't  widely popular ,,,,, doesn't make them cool  :-\  ::)

But hey different strokes ,for different folks  :daumenhoch:     :)

I suppose your  problem is choosing parts "not run of the mill" that aren't then in the "exotica rare and pricey " bracket  :-\

Less common stuff used on builds I like

Early Weinmann brakes ,Lester mags , Tioga task force cranks,SR Aero-X stem,,,,,,

Ohh so if it's working on a bidget delete my little list then  :-[ as those are far from cheap but if you want unique  :daumenhoch:

Early Weinmann brakes you say C  :smitten: great choice and I use them a lot, well the pre 80 ones. Lesters are nice but I like the ACS Strokers more  :P

I think he probably did use one but not for how it was intended and ended his TV carreer  :D

He had a colourful private life which involved taking cocaine and wearing lingerie at sex parties

I bid £130 but it just kept going, that's the only one I have ever seen, always wanted one bitd, always wanted one of them jt racing hats with the neck cover but never got one. As for them galindo bars lmao, remember seeing them in Surrey skates and everyone was laughing at them, had a shotgun 1 bitd as that was the only yellow seat they had in the shop, people just ripped the p/ss, there's some nice stuff out there but there's a lot of crap for the that will do builds

Yeah I was watching it and was tempted for a start but then it went daft, don't think you'll see another NOS one anytime soon though.
One of those JT painters hats popped up on the museum a few weeks ago, was pretty cool and went in a flash. Hear what your saying about "that will do" parts  ;D

Apart from stuff already mentioned

Cinelli unicanitor plastic seat
Strongs stem,bit like a DK
Jam buttie seat clamp
Michelin bx tyres ,think these were about 84 ???
Terry cables look good :daumenhoch:

All these should be not to difficult to find, prices not that bad either, maybe not the seat though...
