just wondering what your views on this are. Last week I bought a set of Hutch ladder bars off here and paid a lot for them, now they have turned up and on the top cross bar the chrome has rubbed off down to raw metal at each end, this wasnt described in the original thread
http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=144309.0
ive sent him a pm but he hasnt logged on for a couple of days, what do you think should be a fair outcome to this
nice1 Gaz
-
if you aint happy and it wasn't described gaz then refund or some back for you to get em sorted if thats what ya wanna do
-
I'm sort of involved in this ??? as i sold my Laser bars to Arno, and he sold the ladder buff bars to you to buy mine.
I have been in pm's with him in the last couple of days
he's waiting for mine /his bars - trying to send out monday
just wanted to let you know my side if i get bought on board about the bars
cheers B ;)
-
failing that find out what city centre he shops in and go pick his pockets
-
and I sold my bars to Joff to get these ;D
when your asking for top $$$ the issues should have been described, there's enough pictures of the bars..just not the areas there's a problem with ???
I dont think the condition reflects the price
he's in Holland :D
-
Part refund Gaz :daumenhoch:
-
Not cool beans. If bendy has payment for his bars, then maybe we could ransom bars :LolLolLolLol:
-
how did you pay as gift or purchase,
about gift payments i can't see what benifits there are to pay this way now as there are fee's involved ( i've only noticed in the last month). the seller could always ask for slightly more to compensate for purchase fee's. i presume it's 4% for gift or purchase. then everyone is covered if this happens.
plus the seller will have your address on paypal invoice then
-
youll be on the continent in a few weeks gaz
have a little detour if no joy
-
I've noticed the for sale thread has been edited after the time you dibbed them ,, and the description mentions brake lever rub , has this info been added after sale .It wasn't edited to mark as Sold :-\
For sale ads on Ebay work that either you both agree on a part refund amount or full refund and you ( the buyer)stand the return postage .
Hope this gets resolved pronto :)
-
Just before it gets out of hand and the witch hunts starts ::) ;D
when speaking to him - he's a fare guy and i don't see he's out to rip people off ?
I'm not taking sides here on this one and i was just letting you all know what the score was
lets just see what he has to say and what can be done first ok ;)
-
the majority of people on here are sound and honest, I just want him to see this thread to understand that, I dont want it to turn into a witch hunt, just for him to do the right thing, you get brake lever rub on most used bars, not on the top cross bar though
-
if im selling something and its marked or damaged i will mention and post pics and would expect others to do the same. if this dos nt happen then its dishonest or economical use of the truth to get more money ! not cool !
-
I'm glad you are not advocating witch hunts, those things are never any fun :'(
Buying and selling is always a two way street, ideally the seller is anal with his decription and the buyer asks enough questions to be sure about his purchase.
Personally if i was buying those bars i would expect them to need a re-chrome or run them as survivor. They look fairly pitted in the last couple of shots. That said the seller should have mentioned the wear if its as bad as you say.
Usually these things go much better with a calm tongue and a level head :-\
Hope it gets resolved amicably :daumenhoch:
-
Don't think Gaz has insticated a witch hunt or anything like that , he has bought a set of bars that when he has received them are not as good as he thought or haven't quite lived up to the description originally posted . He has asked for our opinions, thats all .
If it were me I would offer a full refund or a part refund that both parties are happy with ........ simples really :daumenhoch:
Im sure it will get sorted ;)
It better fookin had.......... because you ain't getting my bars back Gaz :LolLolLolLol: Seriously though Gaz, if it doesn't work out and your stuck for bars im happy to return these ;)
-
ive still got them here you monkey :LolLolLolLol:
-
are you talking about the marks on the bar tops where the brake levers go that you can clearly see on the photo's? or the crossbar that goes in between?
-
Its easy to sort , the seller needs to offer a part or full refund seeing as the description could have been better
On a plus side Gaz it looks like they arrived pretty quick
-
I think the description & photo's are pretty accurate from what I can see ???
-
Although it's not always clear to see the item from a photo, you're only ever going to see what it really looks like when it's in your hands. Photo's can sometimes have a way of making good things look bad and vice versa. :crazy2:
I always used the 'shop' method. If you're not happy with something, would you take it back and ask for a refund, discount or replacement (although the later is not always appropriate), but I guess only you can decide your next course of action. :daumenhoch:
-
I think that if you dont buy old scrap metal, you are never dissapointed with its condition.
I hope this helps :daumenhoch:

the marks are on the top of the cross bar that goes between, the marks where the lever goes aren't that badI think the description & photo's are pretty accurate from what I can see ???

you dont see those pictures in the description, and is this what he meant as lever rub ???
for the money I paid for them I think he should have put in his for sale thread those pictures and then priced accordingly
thanks Simon that clears it up :LolLolLolLol:
-
I'll bring my chrome spray round Gaz .. Job done .. :daumenhoch:
-
I think if there had been a picture like Gaz has shown in the for sale thread it would affect a good few potential buyers
It actually shows where the rub has gone through to bare metal and not in a place where it could be covered up by levers when built. :-\

Shit that. Money back time.
-
to be fair, them marks are not in the picture and should have been a bit clearer, but knowing how fussy people can be you learn these things as you go along. the cranks im selling right now have a couple of battle scars, ive photographed them all to avoid issues.
they look ok and i'd just re-chrome them if i was that bothered. if they came from holland then the postage isn't too dear. keep em, send em back, take your pick.
im not keen on partial refunds, they might be worth what they are worth as is to somebody else, just not you .how much did you pay btw? he did mention rubbing in his description so they weren't described as mint.
im personally of the opinion that trying to make all parts look like brand new detracts from the age and character that the different parts have earned through use and abuse over a few decades .
they look good on your build, job done. i'd have a bit of an issue if they were described and mint and priced sky high.
if you're not going to be happy, get your money back, otherwise enjoy em, they look the biz on a freestyle build.
my 2p's worth

Does anyone remember when Russ Mad dog bought that Supergoose 3 from Jimmy P
and all the gusset at the back of the bb to chainstays, was corroded but painted in chrome :D :crazy2: :-X
-
are the rub marks from a race plate straps ?
-
There´s some brakelever-mount rub,on both side´s,nothing serious!
thats the description, not the chrome has rubbed down to bare metal on the cross bar on both sides, who puts levers on the cross bar? thats mis-leading. I'm not being fussy, but if going to spend £155 on a set of bars these issues should have been pointed out in the sale thread, it looks like a race plate or basket has caused it and not brake levers.
-
he will be on soon or after weekend to find out where his bars are from me - so will see your pm as well ;)

You cannot say fairer than that Gaz lets hope the other fella is as fair :daumenhoch:
At the end of the day we SHOULD all be "mates buying of mates" :-*
