If anyone has any of the Mirage Bars get in contact with Alan :daumenhoch:
He asked me if I had any but i don't
I think If he got a set he would be up for reproducing a limited amount ^"^

Somebody put a pic up on here about 6 months ago along with a frame he was about to send away for powder. Ask SBD if they went through him.
-
A bloke on the dp facebook page posted a picture of those bars just back from powder in April. He said he thought they were Mirage X bars. Could be the same person?

Cool, cheers all.... now to find a set :D
-
Just weld some extra bits onto some v bars! ;)
-
Standard bykes do a pair just like them to custom order.
-
I think you'll find an American company called Rough Rider or something similar made them in the late 70's and early 80's; I'll try and dig out the advert if I can.
Found this on the Museum:

If you ever go into Alan's in Wigan don't expect to talk to him about old school anything, because he,ll tell you there's no old school stuff about anymore. BUT he's selling it bit by bit on eBay and has been for the last 2 years :D ::)

What the hell is that stem on the Eagle? Looks like it curves upwards ???

It says Eagle MX Frame, Stem and Bar so would assume it's an Eagle one; I've never taken much notice of it tbh but now you have pointed it out :D

Just spotted the ones below on Alan's, so thought I'd resurrect this thread:-
Still can't make up mind if I like 'em, but they're certainly interesting. Here's the sales blurb:-
• Originally only about 30 pairs of these were made back in 1984.
• After years of searching our friend Lenny Walls found set and kindly lent us these to be re-made.
• Available in original colours, Chrome and White are regular edition while each other colours are limited edition to just 20 of each.
• Standard "Pro" size 8" rise x 27.5" width.
• Full 4130 chrome moly tubing.
-
They are cool but not for me ... I remember them but didn't like them then or now :-\
-
Not for me either i'm afraid. I think Lenny has the only known original set left in existance unless somone can correct me. They are super rare and quirky. I like the Alans/Mirage/Wigan connection too, as it's local to me and Alan was one of the founding fathers of bmx in the uk.
-
Why are the new ones bigger than the originals?
-
^^^ I guess to appeal to a wider (aka bigger, older and heavier) audience! :daumenhoch:
Saw these ones at the Happy Bike Meeting in Tokyo on Sunday:-
