Title: Haro Zippo headset (noob) question
Post by: dp and Chopper Dude on May 07, 2012, 11:03 PM
I've recently realised that things have moved on since the early 80s and not all bikes have 1" headsets  :-[
So rather than shelling out for the bear trap 2 headset I had my eye out for, what headset do I need for my old school style Zippo build? Also can I still use the old school stem I've got or will I need one of the newfangled stems that is just a head that clamps on to the headset? (please excuse the lack of correct terminology. Damn progress!!)

Thanks.

It'll be 1 1/8" external like this...

Thanks for that. Another daft question! Do they do them with a hollow bolt so I can route my front brake cable through it?

Top cap, comes with the forks, if they have brake mounts then the cap will have a cable hole

A crap pic might explain a bit better....

The top cap on those forks uses a 1/4" socket drive to tighten and has a notch the cable sits in while tightening

Sorry bout the poor quality pic  :LolLolLolLol:
