what's a bmx
I have a build sitting in the lounge, near the TV ~ so when i'm watching the box, my eye will glance over and look at it ! i know what i see but some time question why ?
so when looking at a bmx, what do you see ?
a kids bike
a work of art
a machine the carry's you around
a waste of time
a waste of money
a thing to keep you busy
a challenge in life
a thing of beauty
a way back through time
what is it that make you do it ?
cheers B ;)

Well, if I'm looking at one of my bikes it would be:
A thing of beauty
A work of art
If I were to look at one of your bikes it would be:
A waste of money
A challenge in your life

the hammer that knocks the nail in.
the wind beneath my wings.

Something that gave me masses of freedom, independence and got me away form my stepdad as a kid, as an adult I see them as stylish bicycles built for a purpose that still look good today.
-
All of the above Andy plus Ed's right with a means of escape.
It's definitely in your blood. I rode MTB's for a while but never went to suspension as I ride mine like a BMX and hop over things rather than crash into them and hope. I enjoy my bikes now as much as I ever did as a kid and that takes me to a simple place where we all had a great time with our mates. I'm lucky that my brother lives a mile or so away and shares this hobby as we both act like 12yr olds when we get on our bikes according to our wives.......

It's the satisfying realization that despite the daily grind and the shit this world offers up, the kid in you hasn't been beaten into submission, is alive and well and that the simplest of pleasures in life still offer the greatest satisfaction. That and along with my feet, it's my primary mode of transportation 8) ;D

This says alot...! :daumenhoch:

BMX is a sport which started off imitating motocross. For me BMX could include MTBs, jump bikes, striders, stunt bikes, whatever.
Although I've never done it, 4X looks like BMX to me.
A BMX bike is a bike designed to do the sport of BMX. A BMX bike can also be used for trials, stunts, dirt jumping, general transport, MTBing (24/26 mainly) whatever.
I think that I've ALWAYS been a BMXer, even before I knew what BMX was I had a track and was building ramp jumps in the late 70s/early 80s on Grifters etc.
I had about 20 years without BMX.
As soon as my eldest showed an interest I felt myself being inexorably sucked back in and rarely go a day without riding.
My dad is the same. He's in his 60s, had a triple heart bypass at the end of last year and is back training hoping to race again asap.

BMX is a way of keeping me sane. :D

For me BMX is my main transport, our household gave up cars nearly a year ago, so I ride everywhere. I have a mountain bike, but never ride it, I just don't get the smile BMX gives me :smitten: On a day where life gets me down, I throw on my gloves, bash hat, ipod and just ride off somewhere, i find spots to my ability and go and have fun :4_17_5: I come home aching and tired, but buzzing, ready for the next day to come :daumenhoch:

What he said... As weak as it sounds but BMX is what defines me as a person. Its shaped my life and the choices I have made for the majority of my time on the planet. As you get older your perspective on BMX changes, but I dont think the influence it has on you as a person ever does.

It's a great talking point when the lads come round. I'd say at least 3/4 of my mates still haven't seen them in the flesh yet. Every time one cames by its, "oh cool, I had one of them on my bike" then it's "how much is it worth" then it's "can you build me one" ;D
-
my mates mock me for having bmx s but they always want a go ! haters ! :LolLolLolLol:
-
certainly a cool item, that when friends come round love the look of them
proud or one up points - BMX is cool :coolsmiley:
-
my last gf hated BMX.
she thought itīs ridiculous for an adult to ride these bikes.
well, she had tiny tits anyway... ;D

A small rugged,20" wheeled bicycle, built with the purpose of racing and stunting.
