I like the oddy hazard lite but want a chrome or polished rim but told the chrome comes off and pits really easy on the new school rims so looks like polished :-\
also what hubs are we running for strength and reliability :-\
-
One's I've got:
Chrome Eclat Bondi rims - G-Sport Ratchet rear, G-Sport Marmoset front.
Chromes good on them - no pitting, but yeah, getting brake wear - you can lessen it by using softer clear pads (but they're noisy as fook) :)
-
I'm running oddy hazards at the mo and they are fine.
Although on a similar thread a while ago stodgy did say primo hubs & rims are about the best for price & performance, even better than g sport....I'd defo takes his advice as running the shop he knows his stuff :)
-
im running gsport ribcage rims and proper hubs
rims are 1 year old and still straight, hubs are nearly 4 years old and have been faultless(also heavily abused :2funny:)
before the gsport rims i ran primo 7005 rims i was not impressed with em

i hope to pick up my new wheels in the next few days from Mr Stodgy :daumenhoch:

As Glen said if the chrome gets wet , just make sure you give em a wipe dry everytime , they'll stay mint :daumenhoch:
My nephew has run Chrome Odyssey 7KA's on Profiles for 2 years they still look and ride perfect ,,, but he really looks after stuff

Lots and lots of opinions on wheelsets. My advice is this;
Welded rims not pinned.
Sealed hubs with real bearings - no ceramic tomfoolery.
As for chrome rims, if you ride outdoors they'll not last as long as you'd probably like but keep them clean & dry and you're in the same boat as the rest of us. I went for a cheap and cheerful Alien Nation chrome rim last time I built a wheel and it's been fine so far. Admittedly I don't ride much and I'm fairly smooth so my kit doesn't get hammered.

Cheaper yes, stronger or better not a chance. Remember, you get what you pay for!

Profile profile profile, I love em they are a lot of money but worth it ithink, and I use proper rims never had a problem!
-
Have you never had the Profile wobble?
-
Yes I have but it's only a shim then sorted I've had loads of different wheels over the years and these are by far the best, there getting on for 3+ years old and where shand and use to be a pro riders wheels so a little wobble is ok on how much they have been used and abused??
-
Have heard bad things in gsport hubs as well.......bearings failing very quickly ???

You're right, and it's fair comment.
I just used to think that for all that money they wouldn't need fettling quite as often or as much as they seem to. Can't deny they're pretty things though, I do like them. To be honest they're out of my price range.

i,ve been using gsport ribcage rims for 3 years, front has a 14mm profile hub and rear is khe astern freecoaster, i use four pegs and two brakes and everything is still perfect.

They are good hubs I ride at least 3 times a week well did befor the baby lol, and this is the only problem I've had, and to be honest i only notice it because I'm fussy! It's not bad at all and I could live with it!

Cos polished looks okay to me, plus new chrome is pretty shyte. i don't really do any tricks that require me to hang on the rear brake much to be honest Glen........you've seen me ride ;D
-
mmmmmmmmmm nice Rob
-
They are gorgeous Dan! Dave's done a superb job building them as well :4_17_5:
gonna fit them to the Goose this evening ready for the weekend :daumenhoch:
-
Chrome flakes off all modern rims... sometimes before they are even used!
The only ones in the last 18 months that don't have been the Eclat ones, but they are discontinued now.
Polished is a good way of getting the chrome look without the flaking.

Just ordered Primo balace 7005 front and rear in white with Primo N4 flanged front hub and a Primo remix cassette on the back, Blue Primo spokes...............
