After a long old hectic 3 weeks at work, finally got the time to go pick these up from a good fella near me :)
(Yet another) MK1 1997 DK SOB (sadly had the old 14mm drop mod):
And a 1996 Ramp Room Hoffman Flash:
Crackin stuff - well chuffed. Reckon I'll build up the Flash (if I can find the right forks for it) and take it out to the trails. Had one in the 90's, and loved the geometry for trails :)
-
That flash is lush Danny! Well done!
-
Cheers Olly :daumenhoch:
Just to add (as I'm even more chuffed) - got an S&M tee through from Bikefactory over in Hawaii for winning the 20" threaded section over at the Museum (cheers again Don for organising):

Thought that was it, but just got a parcel through I've not opened yet - from S&M HQ :daumenhoch:

Danny I drool with envy yet again.
Sweet score on the frames, and what a great prize for winning the comp, those tee are the nuts
-
The 14mm dropout things something i got use to a while back
unless im building something proper mint, then i dont mind as tbh it was just progression.
a show pony on the other hand i might get them fixed,a nice tidy ride im easy with 14mm.

Agreed Danny - it's the same as every ding and scratch you get on them - bit of the frames history I reckon. Then again, you'd be upset at one of the frames I've got here that's had it's drops opened to 14mm, beautiful chrome, but opened drops, christ knows why as well cos the frames from 1988 with an 18.5" TT - unless the old owner was a shorty, dunno why you'd bother :)

Nice! Woodbridge perchance? You got them for a steal!
-
nice :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:
they were a bargin, my limit was £120 but they went over that before i had even bid :'( :'(
-
Did get these through the other day as well - top sets original, bottoms repop (and slightly larger) - they're for the 1988 chrome frame I mentioned earlier in the thread ;)
Just need to get the S&M repop OG Dirtbike decal set for the headtube and seattube decals for the full MD set - anyone know if 4Down's got them in yet?
-
Another nice score Danny :daumenhoch:
The cranks were from Woodbridge :daumenhoch:
Kev, i went to £130 but didn't win em, got em in the end on a second chance offer at £130
Might get em repaired proper, don't think they'll stand up to much abuse as they are ;D
Sorry for the threadjack Danny :police:
-
nice scores boys, still got a damaged set here of the alberts ebay time me thinks.
-
lucky score then mark!!!
dan, how much for em outside of ebay? what work do they need doing (they all need work somewhere lol)
-
dan i will tidy this thread up for you as we keep chatting on your thread sorry bro
kev i ride them as they are haha will chat
-
lol k, they will be going on my mk3 holmes so only used for cruising around on
pm me ;) ;)
-
Hey Danny - leave the thread as is fella :daumenhoch: Totally don;t mind - I'll happily rename it to 'Mid School Score Thread' :daumenhoch:
Just gonna derail it more with some more pics from me ;)
-
Here we go - self derailling ;D
Here's the frame - 1988 GT made Mad Dog :) Deffo a shame about the drops on this though, still undecided if I should get em resto'd or leave the frame as is with 14mm's. Not too sure I'll be able to ride the bugger properly anyhow as it's a frikkin 18.5" top tube. This is definitely the earliest bike I want in me collection (ignoring the Burner pile in me cellar, don't judge me - they've been there for years!)

got some nice gifts their danny :daumenhoch:
-
Such a shame about those dropouts :'(
Looks spot on apart from that
Could Del help you out with those MD decals, just looks like the S&M script is wrong on the repros?
-
dan, honestly just for now leave the dropouts for now,it is what it is .its still a mad dog.
if you go ott on doing it up minty mint the fare does get it rebuilt.

Yeah - is a shame about the drops, but I reckon if I get it powdered I might as well get them resto'd - or stay with the chrome and leave as-is - as Danny says prob will go with the drops as-is :daumenhoch:
I reckon I'll use the original decals (or scan and repop them meself in Illustrator and ask Del if he'll print them for me). Undecided what to do with the slightly larger repops - they're bang on apart from the size. Was going to slap them on a new school (as they'll fit NS down tubes perfect at that size), but might just give the buggers away on here for someone with a NS S&M :)
Ta Gish :daumenhoch:
-
very nice :smitten: :smitten:
was this the one we were talking about last month??
shame about those dropouts but its still real nice and can be fixed if need be :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

Ta Kev :daumenhoch: Different one fella (bit of a suprise getting it really), the other one has gone to a UK home though ;)
Speccing this bugger out's gonna cost a forking fortune - bit undecided which way to go with it, as I don't reckon I'll be able to ride it (being 6'3") with any gusto, and being a solid 90's person the price of 80's parts scares me a bit (how much for cranks!) ;D
-
cool, glad it found a uk home, more chance of me getting hold of one some day :2funny: :2funny:
polish it and hang it on the wall :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:

loving them cranks mark :smitten:
was watching them myself but forgot all about them ending :-[
-
mark what happend to the gt's they have replaced??
Keeping those for the time being, the sprocket bolts seized and rounded off so the right arm has a trifan stuck to it ;D
It's a different sprocket in those pics
Might have a pair to sell, i'll let you know :daumenhoch:
Nice fella :daumenhoch:
That's not too bad, are they gen 2 or 4's?
Gen 3's Danny
The other side of the left arm doesn't look like it's been re welded so they might have cracked rather than snapped completely
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/m48/markw33/30-5-12010.jpg)
Shame whoever repaired em decided to weld the left arm to the spindle while they were at it :crazy2:
-
had that happen to me before, had to cut a slot into the bolt with a hacksaw to get it out
yeah let me know cheers, dan is gonna try and dig out his prince alberts but if they are out of my price range etc.. id like a set of gt's for the zima :daumenhoch: :daumenhoch:
-
haha, they're my old prince alberts! wondered when they would resurface
-

I remember them now - the ones with one attached arm :) Nice Betty, give S&M a ring and see if they'll warranty swap them for a pair of gen 4's ;)
