what would you rather have on your build??? era correct or corect ish 1.5's i.e comp 3's etc etc or re issue yellow label 1.75's?? thoughts chaps ???
-
Era correct all the way, no way I'd have a set of re issues on one of my bikes but each to their own, there's a big difference in price.
-
repops to ride
old ens to show :)

dont listen to GUFF he's a nob :knuppel2: :LolLolLolLol: :LolLolLolLol:

Re pop's anyway, especially for riding, I'm not spending £100+ on some tyres :LolLolLolLol:
-
original 1.5's all day long parcy, in fact 1.5's look better than 1.75's on some race bikes as they look more 'slick' like.
-
ok point taken, good job ive invested in 1.5's lately then :daumenhoch:
-
I now use re-issue comp III's to ride on after ruining 2 sets of old school tyres :-[ :D As I now ride more and more, I cannot justify keep ruining tyres. They take too much looking after as I find I have to clean them and vaseline the walls too often :-\
As Rob says, old school tyres for photo shots and re-issue for riding :daumenhoch:
-
Old School originals for sure Marky.. remember my red Gen 1 Redline Proline got marked down in "Show & Shine" at MK last year cos it had re-issue Comp III's buddy :daumenhoch:
-
Yeah its all very well if you can find mint OG tyres for show let alone fooking afford them... ???
Someone find some mint Comp II's for me... ::)
-
Depends on the era and whether race or freestyle. I remeber BITD everyone who could find them or afford them was running Comp ST"s or Panaracer freestyle. I ran GT or Haro cos I couldnt find a stockist of either of the others but to see, say, a Gen 1 Haro with something like Oddy Barefeet on just doesnt look right.
And ST"s or Panaracers were actually GOOD tyres.............
-
No point asking me eh Mark ;D I have itus when it comes 2 tyres like my bikes ::) I know what I likes :uglystupid2:
-
i popped some nos comp 3 blue/grey label 1.5's on my gt the other day and took of the 1.75 re issues but it looks pants now :-[

How much then Mark...££?!!! ;D
-
I'd rather have survivor era correct 1.75's than either ,,f
(plus a fat /thin combo hard to find but look awesome on some builds like Rippers etc )
1.5's too thin unless on some 85 onwards race bike with 1.5 rims :)
Repops are nice and clean and look right size ,,, but you know yourself :-\
Hard situation your in Marky :-\
era correct is better
and they will do till the 1.75's come along :)
-
i had a couple of sets of 1.5,s but sold them on as they look way to narrow to me on a pro sized bike.
ok on a expert size i should think
im not that bothered these days to give a fortune for tyres to sit on a bike in the corner of the room getting dusty :crazy2:
-
I just go for tyres that look correct. I have owned expensive NOS tyres but hated the idea of them halving in value as soon as I ride them. I ride all my bikes so the tyres have to be 'disposable' but look good...

OG OS 1.75's or 2.125/1.75 mix , on showbikes . 1.5's look ok on junior bikes but Pro size bikes need sensible size tyres .
Riders , only got one OS rider , it has Cheng Shin C183 knobblies on it ...... ( were NOS :LolLolLolLol: ) .

I guess it depends on how much disposable income you have? ??? a few of you on here obviously have lots (good on you ;)) but I think your common or garden average joe has to go with what you can afford? thems the facts :(
-
1.5 rear/1.75 front is a good combo, works on most bikes except those with tall frames and massive bars with flexfighters etc :daumenhoch:
The proportions need to look right ;)

Marky who started the thread ,is foookin loaded :D :daumenhoch:
He's a plasterer :D they're on far too much ;) :police:
Bullseye ,you've made enough money out of the hobby selling stuff apparently over the years too ::)
-
yeah, c'mon 'brand new van parcy', spend some proper dosh... i know a man with some mint 1.75 grippa's... ::) best o/s tyre ever!
-
Tyres are the hardest thing to get for an era correct build now for obvious reasons. I've pretty much done all my bikes by buying them individually rather than as pairs, it's just a case of being very patient.
This below has a 1.5 rear and a 1.75 Front, it doesn't look wrong as Andy above said but if another green/yellow 1.75 came up i'd go for it just so i did have a pair of them if needed.

So far i have never used the re-issue tyres and i can't see me doing so in the future.
Also Mark spends more money on grips than he does Tyres, He's also currently holds the No1 plate for spending the most amount at MK.

Thats spot on with those tyres, and a good example of what i meant by proportions :daumenhoch:

ive run out of steam and enthusaism a bit, hence why i cant be fooked to spend £150 + on os 1.75's anymore, bring on the 1.5's :LolLolLolLol:
