I have had a wanted up for an Anlun stem for ages with no joy :( http://www.radbmx.co.uk/forum/index.php'topic=143125.0;topicseen
Until i had a reply from a good mate on Thursday ( Tony - Torkerdude180)
I finally had one !!
Unfortunately it was attached to this ................
99% original 1984 survivor gen 3 sport :smitten:

Needless to say i had to have it 8)
The lads it was apparently had it this way from the shop back in 84 , i assume the factory spec white z's were swapped for the skyways either by the shop or at the request of the new owner . We are trying to find out what it was, if we can contact the og owner . Everything else is total factory spec , down to the blue 84 DC cable , the Haro stamped seat , anlun chainring/disc,gold bolts and the cheng shin snakebellies .
It is in great condition , a few scuffs to the decals and a few surface scratches to the paint . Tony commented on the pedals and grips having virtually no scuffs on them at all  It really can't of been used much at all !!
Looks like the dropouts haven't seen any action , or movement since new :D
(http://www.radbmx.co.uk/archive/albums/uu6/NORTYFORTY/1984%20haro%20sport/002.jpg)
Chainring shows little sign of use aswell .....
It's staying all together as a true survivor , very sympathetic resto/clean up and she's done :) It would be criminal to split this or over resto it in my eyes .
It will live with my other 84 sport and my chrome 84 FST 8)

Thought you might like it Dave !
As you can appreciate theres no way while this is in my possesion that it will get split , it has to stay together imo .
The only downside to this purchase is there's no way I can make it to Cologne now , sorry mate :( Think my good lady would turf me out !! I keep going on my footy weekends and on most of the RAD rides and we have no family holiday planned for this year , she says there has to be a bit of give and take!! ::)

As you know Mark im more of a race bike fan myself but i had two bikes on my list when i got back into this hobby that were dream bikes as a kid , a loopy ripper and an 84 sport .... I now have them both so im one happy chap :)
I know what your saying about the footstands etc , they never appealed to me hence the early chrome FST purchase as i thought an 84 sport was out of reach .

It was funny when you said '' Joff i have found you a stem but it's attached to a bike and he won't split " ...... i did think here we go :D ..... just wasn't expecting it to be attached to this !!
Thanks again Tony :4_17_5:

Cheers Christian :daumenhoch:
Tony has been a real star with this one, he's one of the many lads ( a lot have posted above ) i have met on here who are totally genuine , a great laugh and without RAD i would never of met . It's meeting lads like this and the RAD rides that makes this place special in my eyes :) I have to say too that Tony's thoughts were exactly the same as mine and yours Christian ..... it would be a crime to split this bike . I can assure you it will never happen as long as i own it ;) ( Tony has first shout on it if i decided to sell .... so it won't get split by him either )
Rich , I do think this will be making an appearance on one of the next rides (maybe minus the snakebellies) as both Tony and i couldn't wait to get it back to his house and have a blast on it :D
Glen , thanks for the kind words mate :)
Thanks for all the commments lads , appreciated :daumenhoch: .............. and yeah Gaz , i dare say you would have held me to ransom and made me beg for it aswell :LolLolLolLol: i would have sweet talked you around though :-*
-
Nice score Joff, good old Tony :4_17_5:
Awesome when bikes like this end up with proper enthusiasts and not clowns in it to make a quick buck :knuppel2:

Hey you kept that quiet.....thought I was the only one opening boxes lately......
Joff thats a very special bike made up for you pal........ :daumenhoch:
-
Started to strip this down tonight , basically just a clean and re grease etc . Stripped the tyres off the Tuffs and the innertubes are the original Cheng shin stamped ones and they had no puncture repairs in them  Obviously im not 100% they are the original ones but going off the wear on (or i should say lack of it ) on the tyres ,grips, chainwheel and pedals etc im 99% certain they probably are .
This bike can't hardly of been used bitd which i suppose is pretty sad in one way but great for me and us as collectors now :)
-
cant wait to see it all cleaned up joff :smitten: i told you abour those innertubes..... ;)
-
Hey Joff, I know you said that it was a Wigan bike. I remember Alan telling me he used to swap the Z's for Tuffs on his Sports. So this would fit with your bike being bought with Tuffs & original.
Love that bike :4_17_5:
-
Keep coming back for a second look. 8) Load some more pic's up when it's had it's clean. :coolsmiley: :daumenhoch:
liking that :smitten:
