bought a set of prince alberts from dan the other week, which had a bubble gum repair weld around the axle boss (not done by dan!!)
30 mins with the dremel and a light bit of sandpapering and i got the weld down to a acceptable state, didnt want to take it any further than this and risk causing damage, just got to finish the prep and then paint em black

next i bought a mk2 dirtbike frame with 1" stupid fork and stem combo with a few other bits too, sold the dirtbike frame on but have kept the forks and stem, which were a little rusty in places, quick going over with some coca cola and tin foil and they have come up nice

all this is going onto my mk3 holmes and the profiles and dk stem off the holmes will go on the zima build and the 1in ditchforks will stored for future use :daumenhoch:
-
Nice Kev :daumenhoch:
Bugger me - Woodbridge sales have taken off here - first Betty, now you Kev ;)
-
glad they arrived ok mate and cleaned up nice.
-
Thought i'd seen that Dirtbike before ;)
Nice little pick up Kev, at least the crank arm wasn't welded to the axle :(
Haven't forgot about those other cranks, i'll send some pics this weekend :daumenhoch:
-
cheers guys
danny woodbridge sales? u have lost me though i am drunk and southern lol
dan im quite surprised how well the arm has come out, cheers for sorting them for me :daumenhoch:
mark the dirtbike was a steal really, missed it the first time so when i was outbid on dan's wal i thought this time ill have it and just move the frame on as i was only really interested in the forks and stem combo, even has the og top nut they came with as std, guy i got it from bought it all brand new back in 94
k let me know when u got the pics, may move my profiles on and have the gt's for the zima :daumenhoch:

Heh - the DB came from Woodbridge, Suffolk same as Betty's PA's ;) And I'm drunk and northern :)
Love them forks Kev - was tempted meself but no cashola!
-
ahh k, knew they were from suffolk but didnt take any notice of exactly where :LolLolLolLol:
i didnt really have the cash either, had to use my old fools cash, hence moving the db frame straight on to get the cash back!
-
Kev are they 1 inch threadless forks and matching stem?
-
Here you go Jaymz - from Alex's S&M Forks thread:
'Finally, there was the Stupid fork, or Menstrual fork. This was a 1” clamp on stem and the steer tube was machined down from one thick tube (rather than several tubes over each other). The dropouts wrapped round under the leg, (the same as Oversized pitchforks started doing). There was also an extra tube pushed inside from the top to help strengthen the stem clamp area, and this was welded round the top. On these forks, the clamp on area was just under 1” diameter (not sure why). This meant they would only fit with S&M 1” Clamp on stems. The redneck and the menstrual stem (similar to the challenger stem) were both available in 1” and 1 1/8” clamp on versions.'
-
:LolLolLolLol: the stupid fork, not all that popular then, I've heard of one inch threadless as KHE seemed to do a few bitd, but never seen a 1inch aheadset before, gotta be getting rare now
-
yep its a basicly a 1in threaded clamp on setup, headset fits exactly same as a normal one and the stem just clamps on and dosent have a a compression nut etc...
wasnt around long due to 1&1/8th coming along with a year, rarest version is the menstrual ditchfork version
-
nice kev
could use some pa decals meself
-
1in menstrual ditchforks

pa decals do pop on ebay now and again and im sure del does them too
-
even has the og top nut they came with as std, guy i got it from bought it all brand new back in 94
What is this "og top nut" you are referring to Kev?
Great job on touching up the P/A's, they are few and far between these days.
That black 1" stem has got to be pretty damn rare.
I have a stupid fork combo and love it.
This is what i am relearning dirt jumping on:

basicly when u bought a stupid/menstrual fork and stem combo they came with a open top lock nut unlike say a beartrap one which has a lip stopping it going further down the thread, the one supplied by s&m allows u to wind it past the top threads on the steer tube
here's a pic from a s&m ad at the time

-
No mine doesn't, the DK headlock i have on there is open at the top so it kinda does the same thing.
