BEAVER FALLS — A Patterson Township woman died early Sunday at a Pittsburgh hospital after she was struck by a car Saturday night in Beaver Falls, according to police.
Chief Charles Jones said Virginia L. Rini, 67, was being dropped off by her husband, Joseph S. Rini, shortly after 10 p.m. in the 1800 block of Seventh Avenue, when a vehicle traveling south crossed over the center line and the northbound lane and struck the Rinis’ car and others parked beside it in front of D&G Pizza.
Rini, who had just exited the passenger side of her vehicle, was struck by one of the parked cars and was flown to UPMC Presbyterian, where she was pronounced dead about 3 a.m., Jones said.
The driver of the second vehicle, whom Jones would not identify because of the ongoing investigation, told police she experienced mechanical problems, which caused her to lose control.
Jones said he didn’t know whether Joseph Rini was injured.
